Araştırmanın amacı, meslek liselerine yönelen öğrencilerin eğitim tercihini, (bireysel, sosyal ve ekonomik) etkenlerin etkileyip etkilemediğinin ve bulundukları şartlarda umut düzeylerinin belirlenmesidir. Araştırmanın evrenini, Sakarya ilî Hendek ilçesi sınırlan içerisinde yer alan meslek liselerinin değişik bölümlerinde 2004-2005 öğretim yılında öğrenim görmüş dokuzuncu sınıf öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma kapsamına giren 5 meslek lisesinden 327 öğrenciye anket uygulanmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen veriler, SPSS programı kullanılarak çözümlenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda meslek lisesi öğrencilerinin daha çok beş ve daha fazla bireyden oluşmuş ailelerden geldiği tespit edilmiştir.Aynı zaman bu öğrencilerin anne ve baba eğitim düzeyleri oldukça düşüktür. Ailenin geçimi neredeyse tamamen baba tarafından karşılanmaktadır. Meslek lisesi öğrencileri genellikle dar gelirli ailelerin çocuklarından oluşmaktadır. Bu öğrencilerin neredeyse tamamı orta ve iyi düzeyde ilköğretim bitirme derecesine sahiptir.Öğrencilerin tamama yakın bir kısmı seçmiş olduğu bölümden memnundur.Öğrencilerin yarıdan fazlası okulunu kendi seçmiştir.Aile daha sonraki etkendir ; burada rehberliğin rolü çok azdır.Öğrenciler meslek lisesini genelde ilgi duydukları ve el becerisine dayalı işleri sevdikleri için tercih etmektedir.Üniversiteyi düşünen öğrencilerin oram çok düşüktür. Büyük çoğunluğunun ailesinde meslek lisesi mezunu yoktur.Öğrencilerin neredeyse tamama yakın kısmı ileride mezun olduğu alanda çalışmayı ummaktadır.Bu öğrencilerin tamamı ya kendi işini kurmayı ya da özel sektörde çalışmayı düşünmektedir. Meslek lisesi öğrencilerine göre toplum meslek liselerini yeterince tanımamaktadır ve dar gelirli ailelerin çocuklarına meslek kazandıran okullar olarak görmektedir. Meslek liselerine önem verilme sebebi olarak öğrenciler kısa yoldan meslek sahibi olmada bir araç olarak düşünülmesini ve iş bulma imkanının fazla olmasını göstermektedirler. Öğrencilerin büyük kısmı meslek liselerini arkadaşlarına önermektedir. Yapılan çalışmada öğrencilerin cinsiyetleri, bölümleri, okulları ve babalarının eğitim durumu değişkenlerine göre meslek liselerini tercih sebepleri arasında fark bulunmuştur.Okullara göre meslek liselerine önem verilme sebepleri farklılık göstermektedir. The aim of the research is to find out that personal, social and economical factors affect on the demand for vocaticMpak schools and the hope J v degree of this students. The space of this research is the whole first year students in the vocational schools during the 2004-2005 educational year in Sakarya Hendek. The questionnaire has been applied for 327 students in the five-type vocational school.The data has been graphed and evaluated by SPSS program. At the end of the research it is found out that the vocational students come from families that has five or more members. The father and mother education degrees are very low. The fathers are the only economic support of the student's families. The vocational students come from small income families. Nearly all of these students have middle and good first school graduation degrees. Nearly all of the students are pleased about their branch. Over half of the students have chosen vocational schools themselves. The family is the other factor for choosing these schools. The roles of the guidance of the teachers are very low. The students come to the vocational schools either they like the works that needs hand skills or they only feel interest on these schools. The percentage of the students who think about the university is very few. Most of the students have no vocational students in their families. Nearly all of the students think that they are going to work in their branch in the future. This group of students expect to work either a private sector job or their own. According to vocational students the people don't know these schools enough. According to students people think that this schools are for small income families' students to give them a skill. For these students the reasons for the importance of these schools are short way to have a skill and to find a job. The students suggest vocational schools for other students. The reasons for the students to choose these schools are different for the sexuality, branch, school, and father education level variables. There is difference between school types about the reasons for the importance of vocational schools. Difference between students' fathers working situation and hope level has been found
