KISA ÖZET Nietzsche'nin Sokrates'e Karşı Kararsızlığı Mirza Resul Kuzu Sokrates, Nietzsche külliyatında, temel ve tüketilemez felsefi soru işaretlerinin vücutlaşması olarak görünür. Nietzsche, tüm yaratıcı yaşamı boyunca, Sokrates üstünde ve vasıtasıyla felsefe yapmaya hiç son vermedi. Bu tezde, Nietzsche'nin Sokrates'le ilgili görüşlerinin en etraflı ve geniş kapsamlı bulunduğu Tragedyanın Doğuşu ve Putların Alacakaranlığı eserlerine odaklanarak, Nietzsche'nin Sokrates'e ne hayran olduğunu ne de Sokrates'i aşağıladığını fakat O'na karşı kararsız olduğunu göstermeyi amaçladım. Çalışmamın Sonuç bölümünde, Nietzsche'nin Sokrates'e karşı kararsızlığının ortaya çıkardığı Nietzsche'nin dekadanlıkla ilgili sınıflandırmasındaki bazı içsel gerilimlere ve belirsizliklere, gelecek araştırmalar için yeni yollar aydınlatmak umuduyla, dikkat çekmeye çalıştım.

ABSTRACT Nietzsche's Ambivalence toward Socrates by Mirza Resul Kuzu Socrates appears as the embodiment of fundamental and inexhaustible philosophical question marks in Nietzsche's oeuvre. He never ceased to philosophize on and through Socrates throughout his whole creative life. In this thesis, I have aimed to show that Nietzsche neither admires nor despises Socrates but rather is ambivalent toward Socrates, by focusing on Nietzsche's views of Socrates in The Birth of Tragedy and Twilight of the Idols, where he presents us the most comprehensive and extended treatment of Socrates. In the Conclusion of my study, I have tried to call attention to some inner tensions and ambiguities in Nietzsche's classificatory scheme of decadence which his ambivalence toward Socrates reveals, with the hope of illuminating new paths for future inquiries.
