251 SUMMARY The Nation Party was founded on July 20, 1948 in Ankara» The founders of the party were Tevzi Çakmak (the deputy of Istanbul), E- nis Akaygen (the deputy of Istanbul), Hikmet Bayur (historian), Kenan Hner (lawyer), Mustafa Kentli (doctor), Qsman Bölükbaşı (farmer), Os man Nuri Koni (the deputy of Istanbul), and Sadxk Aldoğan (the deputy of A fyon). The founders of the Nation Party were the persons who left or dismissed from the Democratic Party because of various reasons. The party, according to its programme was relying on principles of republicanism, justice, liberalism and nationalism. Nation Party was depending to render sovereignty of nation determination by reliable election, to acknowledge feeling of ethics tradition and custom to respect the freedom religion foundations and nation customs, to accept secularism and moderate liberalism in economy. The honorary president of the party was Fevzi Çakmak and the first general president was Hikmet Bayur. The newspaper called“Kudret”published in Ankara, was the publication authority of the party and the newspaper by the name of“Yeni Sabah”was supporting the party. The Nation Party took place against to the Republican People's Party (RPP) which was in power and to opposition Democratic Party claiming that Democratic Party was a feigned agreement party and also that they were on the way of the real opposition party.152 In the general election of May 14, 1950 the Nation Party won only one seat in the parliament. In 1952, the number of the deputy increased to four by three; deputy who joined to the Nation Party. At the same year, some outstanding disputes occured within the party and in the grand congress +h +h which was held from June, 27 to 29 1953, a group which called themselves“revolutionist”left from the party. The Nation Party temporary closed because of allegating on the religious fundamentalism on July 8, 1953. After the investigation, party completly closed on January 27, 1954.
