SUMMARY The subject of this study is the foreign students who are learning Turkish in TOMER. In this study their purposes and hopes have been investigated with respect to the anthropological aspects. Also, changes of these students thought about Turkish culture at the forward stage of the language course and communication problems between the foreign students and Turkish people have been investigated in this study. The study includes the 100 students who were educated in three TOMER center in the academic year of 1989-190, 1990-1991. All data has been obtained by interview and questionnaire techniques. Findings of the study are as follows: a. The result of the study shows that 70 % of the students who are learning Turkish in TOMER, aims to make higher education in Turkey, b. Also according to the result of the study, thought of the students about Turkish people and culture is changing at the forward stage of the language, c. Solving of the problems is more easy for the students when they learned Turkish in advanced stage. 82
