Özet

Bu araştırmada, 2002 yılında uygulanan Askeri Liseler Sınavı (ALS) sonuçları ile ilköğretim diploma notları ve lise birinci sınıf ders başarısı arasındaki ilişkiler incelenmiştir. Araştırmada, 2002 yılında ALS sonucu Kuleli, Işıklar ve Maltepe Askeri Liselerine yerleşen 942 öğrencinin ilköğretim diploma notları, ALS puanları ve lise birinci sınıf programında yer alan ve ALS alt testleri ile ilişkili olan derslerin yıl sonu akademik başarı ölçüleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın verilerinin analizinde ve grafiklerin hazırlanmasında SPSS 10 istatistik paket programı kullanılmıştır. ALS alt testleri ile testin bütününün iç tutarlık güvenirlik katsayıları KR-21 formülü ile hesaplanmıştır. Araştırmanın alt problemlerine cevap bulabilmek amacı ile değişkenler arasındaki ilişki düzeyi Pearson Momentler Çarpımı Korelasyon Katsayısı ile hesaplanmıştır. Elde edilen korelasyon katsayılarının sıfırdan anlamlı bir şekilde farklılık gösterip göstermediğini tespit etmek için t testi uygulanmıştır. Sonuçlar 0.01 anlamlılık düzeyinde test edilmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgulara göre; Öğrencilerin ALS alt test puanları ile lise birinci sınıf ilgili bölüm derslerine ait yıl sonu başarı notlan arasındaki ilişkiler 0.01 düzeyinde anlamlı bulunmasına rağmen ilişkilerin çok yüksek olmadığı görülmüştür. ALS Türkçeyi Kullanma Gücü alt test puanlarının Türk Dili ve Edebiyatı dersi yıl sonu başarısını, ALS Sosyal Bilimler alt test puanlarının Sosyal Bilgiler (Tarih, Coğrafya, Din Bilgisi) dersi yıl sonubaşarısını yordamadaki gücünün düşük olduğu, ALS Matematik alt test puanlarının Matematik dersi yıl sonu başarısını, ALS Fen Bilimleri alt test puanlarının Fen Bilimleri (Fizik, Kimya, Biyoloji) dersi yıl sonu başarısını yordamadaki gücünün orta düzeyde olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca ALS toplam puanlarının lise birinci sınıf yıl sonu ders başarıları ortalamasını yordamadaki gücü de orta düzeyde bulunmuştur. İlköğretim diploma notları ile ALS Türkçeyi Kullanma Gücü, Matematik, Fen Bilgisi ve Sosyal Bilgiler alt test puanları arasındaki ilişkiler 0.01 düzeyinde anlamlı bulunurken, ilköğretim diploma notlarının alt test puanlarını ve toplam test puanlarını yordamadaki gücü düşük düzeyde bulunmuştur. İlköğretim diploma notları ile lise birinci sınıf ilgili bölüm dersleri yıl sonu başarı notları arasındaki ilişkiler 0.01 düzeyinde anlamlı bulunurken, ilköğretim diploma notlarının Türk Dili ve Edebiyatı ile Matematik dersleri yıl sonu başarı notlarını yordamadaki gücü düşük düzeyde, Fen Bilgisi ve Sosyal Bilgiler dersleri ile yıl sonu ders başarı notları ortalamalarını yordamadaki gücü ise orta düzeyde bulunmuştur. İlköğretim diploma notlarının ve ALS alt test puanlarının lise birinci sınıf ilgili bölüm derslerini yordama geçerliğinin yeterince yüksek olmadığı sonucuna varılmıştır. Araştırmanın Askeri Liseler Sınavını kazanan seçilmiş grup üzerinden yapılması, ranjın küçülmesine ve daralmasına, dolayısıyla güvenirlik ile geçerliğin olduğundan daha düşük değer almasına sebep olabilir. Ölçüt puanlarının elde edilmesinde, bir yıllık yabancı dil hazırlık sınıfı nedeniyle Askeri Liseler Sınavından sonra iki yıl geçmiş olması sınavla ölçülmek istenen özelliklerde değişmeler meydana getirmiş olabilir. This study was carried out to determine the relations between Military High School (ALS) scores, elementary education diploma scores and year-end academic achievements of first year of high school. In this study, 942 students' elementary education diploma scores who were admitted to Kuleli, Işıklar and Maltepe Military High schools in 2002, ALS scores and the courses included in the first year of high school and year-end academic assessments of courses related to ALS sub-tests are used. SPSS 10 statistical packet program was used in the analysis of research data and in preparing the graphical representations. ALS sub-tests and coefficients of reliability and validity of the test as a whole were calculated by KR-21 formula. Correlations between variables were calculated by Pearson Moment's multiplication correlation coefficient to solve sub-problems of the research. Simple linear regression model was used to find out independent variable's effect on dependent variable. To determine whether correlation coefficients are varying from the zero value are important in a meaningful way, t test is carried out. Results were tested at 0.01 significant levels. Research results indicate that; Correlation between students' ALS sub-test points and year-end achievement points for sectional courses at first class were found at 0.01 significant levels. However the correlation was observed as not that high. It is determined that ALS sub-test points of competency of using Turkish language have a weak effect to predict the achievement of Turkish Language lesson year-end score, and sub-test points of ALS social science courses have weak effect to predict the social sciences courses (History, Geography, Religion), sub-test points of math has middle degree effect to predict year-end achievement of math course, and ALS science education sub-test points have a medium effect to predict the achievement of science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) courses. Moreover it is determined that over all ALS points have middle degree effect to predict year-end point average for the first class of high school. Correlation between elementary education diploma scores and ALS competency of using Turkish Language, Math, Science Education and Social Sciences' sub-test points is found meaningful with 0.01 significant levels, while elementary education diploma scores' effect to predict sub-test points and total test scores is found to be medium. While relations among elementary education diploma scores and high school first class year-end achievement scores of relevant department lessons are found at 0.01 significant levels, elementary education diploma scores' effect to predict Turkish language and math courses year-end achievements is found as weak, and science education and social sciences courses' effect to predict year-end grade average is found as medium. It is concluded that elementary education diploma scores and ALS sub-test points have not enough prediction validity for section courses at first class of high school. The fact that the research is done with a select group who attended and passed the Military High School (ALS) Exam may have decreased the range of applicants and henceforth decreased the reliability and validity of the study. While getting the test results, because of the one year duration of language preparation school there is a two year time lapse after the Military High school exam, there may have been some changed on the variables that were mean to be measured. This situation as well may have been the reason of low correlation coefficients. Key Words Prediction validity, correlation, academic achievement, ALS
