Özet

ÖZET Bu çalışma ekolojik yapının tahribatının, giderek artan çevre sorunlarının sanata nasıl yansıdığını araştırmak, sanatçıların bu konuyu çalışmalarında hangi düzlemde ele aldıklarını göstermek ve sundukları çözüm önerilerini açıklamak amacıyla hazırlanmıştır. Giriş bölümünde, tezin hazırlanma aşamasındaki çalışma yöntemleri, ele alman sanatçıların seçilme nedenleri açıklanmıştır. İkinci bölümde, tezin konusunu oluşturan altmışlı yıllar sonundaki hareketlere, bireysel çıkışlara gelinceye kadarki düşünsel atmosfer özetlenmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde, 1960'lann sonu, 1970 başlarında ortaya çıkan, izleyicinin doğaya ve sanat eserine bakış açışım değiştiren, heykelde modernist söylemin kırılmasında önemli bir aşama oluşturan Earth Art (Yeryüzü Sanatı) ele alınmış, bu grubun içindeki sanatçılardan Robert Srnithson, Hans Haacke, Christo ve Jean Claude, Helen Mayer ve Newton Harrison' in çalışmalarına değinilmiştir. Earth Art'ın açtığı yoldan ilerleyen Mel Chin, Harriet Feigenbaum, Patricia Johanson gibi sanatçıların çevre sorunlarına somut çözümler öneren çalışmaları anlatılmıştır. Dördüncü bölümde, politika, performans, heykel gibi farklı alanlarda yaptığı çalışmalarda ekolojik yapının tahribatına yönelik kaygılarını, sanatının parçası olarak görüp açığa çıkartan, bu çabasını tüm yaşamına yayan ve çevre sorunlarına bütünsel bir yaklaşım getiren, Earth Art, Arte Povera içinde yer almamakla birlikte, çalışmalarıyla bu oluşumlar içinde bulunan sanatçıları etkilemiş olan Joseph Beuys ele alınmıştır. Beşinci bölümde, Nouveaux R^alisme (Yeni Gerçekçilik), Junk Sculpture (Hurda Heykel), Pop Art, Arte Povera gibi akımlarda tüketim toplumunu, savaşı eleştirmek amacıyla atık maddeleri kullanan sanatçıların çalışmalarına değmilmİştir. Altmcı bölümde, Reclaim the Streets, Greenpeace, Earth First! gibi çevre örgütlerinin eylemleri performans sanatı açısından değerlendirilmiş, Dominique Mazeaud'nun, Richard Long'un performans olarak yaptıkları çalışmalar ele alınmıştır. Yedinci bölümde, Türkiye'de çevre sorunlarının sanata nasıl yansıdığına ve özellikle son yıllarda yapılan çalışmalara değinilmiş, bu konuda kendi sanat yaşamları içinde tutarlı bir çizgi gösteren Halil Akdeniz, Suzy Hug-Levy, Ethem Özgüven'in çalışmaları ele alınmıştır. Sekizinci bölümde, 2000 sonrasında, Venedik Bienali, Documenta'da yer alan çalışmalar, Paul Virilio'nun“Ce Qui Arrive”sergisi vb. temelinde bu konuda son yıllarda yapılan çalışmalarla gelinen noktaya değinilmiştir. vıSonuç bölümünde, çalışmaların toplu bir değerlendirilmesi yapılmış, çevre sorunlarım göstermede ya da çevre sorunlarına yönelik çözüm üretmede sanatın ve sanatçının günümüzdeki işlevi sorgulanmıştır. vıı

SUMMARY This thesis has been prepared to research how the destruction of the ecological structure and the gradually increasing environmental problems reflect on art, how the artists depict the problems in their works and on which base the artists touch or tell solution proposals to the problems. In the introduction, the methods of the thesis, the reasons why the artists that were selected has been explained. In the second part, the theoretical atmosphere has been summarized up to the movements of the end of the sixties. This period forms the beginging of the subject of the thesis and the individual art movements. The third part begins with the movement of Earth Art, that emerged at the end of the sixties and at the begining of the seventies, which changed the viewers' point of view towards art and nature. It was an important breaking point to change the modernist discourse in sculpture; the works of the artists of this group, like Robert Smithson, Hans Haacke, Christo&Jean Claude, Helen Mayer&Newton Harrison were chosen as examples. In the 1980's and 1990's, works of artists like Mel Chin, Harriet Feigenbaum, Patricia Johanson propose real solutions to the environmental problems. The fourth section forms the artist Joseph Beuys, who throughout his life revealed his concern about the destruction of the ecological surroundings in different fields like politics, performances and sculpture as a part of his own life. He effected the works of artists in the Arte Povera and Earth Art movements although he was not a member of them. He approached environmental problems holistically and showed this struggle all his life. The fifth section deals with the works of artists who use/used waste material to criticize the consumer society and war in the movement like Arte Povera, Junk Sculpture, Nouveaux R?alisme. The sixth section explains, the actions of non-govermental organisation like Greenpeace, Earth First!, Reclaim the Streets that dealt with the performance point of view, and the performances of the Dominique Mazeaud and Richard Long. The topic of tibe seventh section is Turkey and how the environmental problems reflect on art and especially the works of art that have been created in recent years. The works of artists like Ethem Özgüven, Suzy Hug-Levy and Halil Akdeniz show us the consistent way of their own art life related with the environmental problems. The eighth part mentions the recent ideas as it is shown in the examples of the Venice Biennial, Documenta and Paul Virilio's last exhibition“Ce Qui Arrive”. vmThe final section is summing up the artists attitudes towards environmental problems and the difference between them. It is trying to discuss the difference between all the attitudes. Another essential topic of the final section is the discussion of the function of art. rx
