SUMMARY The subject of this thesis is the Baldachin-type tombs which first began to be seen in Anatolia in the beginning of the 14 thC. The source of Baldachin -type tombs in an importan point to be considered. This style is not used veriy frequently in Turkestan from where the Turks have come. They must have seen Roman mausoleums and built these tombs in this style after coming to Anatolia, in the 14 thC. Baldachin-type tombs of Fatimid Period in Egypt are different in style than those in Anatolia. The temples in Iran must also be mentioned in this context. Baldachin-type tombs are built frequently especially by the Ottomans. This style can also be seen in other building types such as“köşk mescit”,“şadırvan”and“ezanlık”. 14 thC. -15 thC. Baldachin type tombs cna be classified in 4 main groups according to their plan scheme: 1. Square-plan Prismal -mass Baldachin tombs 2. Polygonal -plan Prismal -mass Baldachin tombs 3.
