Özet
Bu çalışmada, fen-teknoloji-toplum dersinin fen bilgisi öğretmen adaylarının bilimin doğasına ilişkin görüşlerine etkisi incelenmiştir. Çalışmaya Fen Bilgisi Öğretmenliği Ana Bilim Dalı'nda okuyan 4. sınıf öğrencileri katılmıştır. Çalışmaya 55'i kız ve 57'si erkek olmak üzere 112 kişi katılmıştır. Çalışmaya katılan tüm öğrenciler Fen-Teknoloji-Toplum dersini alan öğrencilerdir. Çalışmaya katılan fen bilgisi öğretmen adaylarına üç farklı ölçek uygulanmıştır. Bunlar sırasıyla ?Fen Bilgisi Öğretimi Tutum Ölçeği-II?, ?Bilimsel Süreç Becerileri Ölçeği? ve ?Değerler Ölçeği?'dir. Bilimsel Süreç Becerileri Ölçeği ile Değerler Ölçeği çalışmanın başında bir kez sadece katılımcıların bilgilerini öğrenmek için kullanılmıştır. Fen Bilgisi Öğretimi Tutum Ölçeği-II çalışmanın başında ve sonunda ön-test ve son-test olarak iki kez uygulanmıştır. Bununla birlikte, fen bilgisi öğretmen adaylarının bilimin doğasına ilişkin görüşlerini yordamada etkili olabileceği düşünülen fen dersleri not ortalamaları, eğitim dersleri not ortalamaları, genel not ortalamaları ve fen-teknoloji-toplum dersine ait ders başarı notları öğrenci işlerinden temin edilmiştir. Çalışmanın verileri analiz edildiğinde, fen-teknoloji-toplum dersinin fen bilgisi öğretmen adaylarının bilimin doğasına ilişkin görüşlerine etkisi olmadığı bulunmuştur. Fakat bilimin doğasına ilişkin görüşlerin alt boyutları incelendiğinde sadece 4. boyutta anlamlı bir fark bulunmuştur. FTT dersinin fen öğretimine karşı tutumlara bir etkisi bulunmamıştır. Ayrıca fen bilgisi öğretmen adaylarının bilimin doğasına ilişkin görüşlerinin yordanmasında sosyal değerlerin ve fen öğretimine karşı tutumların etkisi regresyon analizi ile bulunmuştur. Bilimsel süreç becerilerinin bilimin doğasına ilişkin görüşlerin açıklanmasında bir yordayıcı olmadığı bulunmuştur.

The purpose of this study was to explicate the effect of STS class on the views of the pre-service science teachers about the nature of science (NOS). 112 students, 55 girls and 57 boys, enrolled at primary pre-science teacher program participated in this research. To carry out this research, three different questionnaires including Science Teaching Attitude Scales-II (STAS-II), Science Process Skills Inventory and The Study of Values were administered to pre-service science teachers respectively. Students participating in this research have taken Science-Technology-Society class. To be able to get information about values and science process skills, the researcher have just carried out The Study of Values and Science Process Inventory at once; however, Science Teaching Attitude Scale-II was used as pre-test and post-test either in the begining of the semester and in the end of the semester. Furthermore, in conjuction with these questionnaires, the researcher obtained academic records aiming at explicating the views of pre-service science teachers about NOS. When the data were analysized, the fact that there was no effect of STS class on the views regarding NOS was found. In the deep analysis, the fourth subgroup of the views of the pre-service science teachers about the NOS has significantly changed with STS class. Another result of this study was that there is no change in attitudes toward science teaching. The researcher has benefited from the regression analysis to explain the effect of both independent and dependent variables on the views about the nature of science. Only social value and attitudes toward science teaching (post-test results) has played an important role in describing the views of the nature of science belongs to pre-service science teachers. Moreover, it was observed that science process skills did not become a crucial factor at delinating views about NOS in light of regression analysis.
