Özet
Bu arastırmanın konusu olan çerçeveleme etkisi, ?bir mesajın bazı önemli niteliklerinin (içerigin seçimi, mesajın düzenlenisi, konu yapısı vb.) seçilerek ve/veya perdelenerek belli fikirlerin okuyucu/izleyicilere uygun hale getirilmesi, bu fikirlerin bireyler düzeyinde harekete geçirilmesi ve degerlendirmelerde kullanılmasına yol açan etki? olarak tanımlanabilir. Yapılan arastırma medya tarafından sık kullanıldıgı tespit edilen haber çerçevelerinin izleyici-okuyucu üzerinde, belirlenebilir etkilerinin olup olmadıgını bulma amacını tasımaktadır. Bu amaç dogrultusunda gerçeklestirilen deneyde, haber çerçevelerinin okuyucuların iki haber konusu hakkındaki düsünce ve duygularını etkileyip etkilemedikleri, etkileme varsa bunun nasıl gerçeklestigi incelenmistir. Arastırmaya katılan 184 üniversite ögrencisi Türkiye'de toplumsal ve siyasal bakımdan önem tasıyan Malatya Cinayeti haberi ve Konya Ovası'nda görülen kuraklık haberini okumus ve bu haberlerle ilgili düsüncelerini listelemislerdir. Ögrencilerden olusan örneklem çatısma, sorumluluk, ekonomik sonuçlar, insani ilgi, kontrol kosullarından birine rasgele atanmıstır. Dört deney kosulunda da haberlerin baslıgı ve ortak metni aynı olmak kaydıyla, giris ve sonuç paragrafları deney kosulunun çerçevesini yansıtacak biçimde düzenlenmistir. Kontrol versiyonunda ise sadece ortak metni içeren, çerçevesiz haber yer almıstır. Haberleri okuyan katılımcıların listeledigi düsüncelerin gösterdigine göre, haber çerçeveleri her iki konuda da okuyucuların düsüncelerini etkilemistir. Arastırmanın sonucuna göre sorumluluk çerçevesi hariç bütün kosullarda denekler haberi hangi çerçeveyle okumuslarsa o yönde düsüncelerini etkinlestirmislerdir.

The subject of this study are the framing effects which are definable as effects taking place when ?the salient attributes of a message (it?s organization, selection of content, or thematic structure) make particular thoughts applicable, resulting in their activation and use in evaluations?. The aim of the study was to find out whether the news frames which were found being frequently used by the media have determinable effects on audiences. An experiment was conducted to study whether newsframes influenced the thoughts and emotions of the readers related to two news stories and if yes, how these effects occured. A sample of 184 university students read two news stories with social and political salience, the Malatya Murder news and the Drought in the Konya Plain, and subsequently listed their thouhts about them. The students were randomly assigned to experimental groups of confict, responsibility, economical consequences, human interest, and control conditions. All four experimental conditions shared the same headline and the core text, but the introductory paragraphs and the concluding paragraphs were edited to reflect the framing conditions of the related experimental group. The control version included only the unframed news core text shared by all groups. The thoughts listed by the participants showed that newsframes influenced the thoughts of the readers of both news stories. According to the result of the study, in all experimental conditions except the responsibility framed condition, the participants activated thoughts in accordance to the frame of the news story they had read.
