Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı, Malatya il merkezindeki devlet ilköğretim okullarını öncelikle beslenme, fiziksel aktivite ve sigara konuları olmak üzere bazı sağlık kriterleri açısından değerlendirmektir.Malatya kent merkezinde yer alan 65 devlet ilköğretim okulu, Türk Millî Eğitim Sistemi Mevzuatı, Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı Özel Öğretim Kurumlarına Ait Standartlar Yönergesi ve ABD Centers for Disease Control School Health Index'den yararlanılarak geliştirilen bir bilgi formu ile değerlendirilmiştir. Bilgi formları okul müdürleri veya okul müdür yardımcıları tarafından doldurulmuştur. Elde edilen bilgiler üç Millî Eğitim Bakanlığı müfettişi ile yapılan görüşmede tekrar değerlendirilmiş ve sorunlar hakkında öneriler getirilmiştir.Çalışma sonucunda, okullarda genel anlamda fiziksel şartlarla ilgili bazı eksikler görülmüştür. Ortalama sınıf mevcudu 52 olup, OECD ortalamasının (22) oldukça üzerindedir. Kapalı spor salonu sadece dört okulda vardır. Okul binası içinde spor salonu olan okul sayısı ise 17'dir. İkili eğitim yapılan okullarda beş dakika olan teneffüs süresi öğrencilerin ihtiyaçlarını karşılayacakları yeterlikte değildir.Sportif etkinlikler yeterince desteklenmemekte olup, lisanslı spor yapan öğrenci sayısı oldukça azdır. Tüm okullar değerlendirildiğinde sadece %2,7 oranında lisanslı sporcu vardır. Okul kantinlerinde satılan yiyecekler sağlıklı beslenme ihtiyaçlarını karşılayamayacak düzeyde bulunmuştur. Okul kantinleri düzensiz aralıklarla denetlenmektedir. Sigara kullanım oranı okul personelinde, ülkemizde yapılmış diğer çalışmalara yakın olarak %40,1 şeklinde bulunmuştur.Sportif etkinlikler teşvik edilmeli ve öğrencilerin beden eğitimi derslerinde daha aktif olmaları sağlanmalıdır. Okul kantinleri kontrol altına alınarak, sağlıklı besinlere öğrencilerin ulaşmaları sağlanmalıdır. Öğrencilere iyi örnek olma açısından, yeni yürürlüğe giren tütün yasası titizlikle uygulanmalıdır.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the government elemantry schools in the center of Malatya, in terms of some health criteria mainly concerning nutrition, physical activity and smoking topics.Sixty-five government elemantary schools in the center of Malatya were evaluated by an information form, which was developed by using Turkish National Education system regulations, Ministry of National Education Private School Standards Directive and USA Centers for Disease Control School Health Index. Information forms were filled by school principals or vice-principals. Results were reevaluated in a meeting with three Ministry of National Education supervisors and some suggestions for the solution of the problems were discussed.As a result of the study, generally some deficiencies were seen about physical properties of the schools. The average number of the students in classrooms was 52 which was quite higher than OECD averages (22). Only four of the schools had a gymnasium and seventeen had a place for sportive activities inside school building. The break time lasting five minutes in the schools performing double teaching was not long enough to meet the students? needs.Students were not encouraged enough to the part in sportive activities and there were few students who performed sportive activities with a licence. When all the schools were regarded; only 2,7% of the students had a licence for sportive activity. The foods sold in the school canteens were found to be insufficient to meet healthy eating needs of the children. School canteens were supervised at irregular intervals. Smoking prevalance was found to be 40,1% which was similar to the previous studies performed in our country.Finally, sportive activities should be encouraged and students should be more active during physical education lessons. The school canteens should be taken under control to provide the students healthy food. Recently effectuated law about tobacco should be strictly obeyed by the school personnel in order to be good role models for the students.
