Özet
Bu çalışmada, 1999 yılında ABD'nin Seattle eyaletinde Dünya Ticaret Örgütü toplantılarının bloke eden ve sonrasında Prag ve Cenova'daki eylemliliklerle dünyaya yayılan küresel toplumsal hareket ile yeni iletişim teknolojileri arasındaki ilişki ele alınmaktadır. Çalışma, yeni toplumsal hareketler ile ilgili kopuş ve süreklilik teorileri ile daha geniş bir toplumsal teori arasında bağ kurmayı, buradan yola çıkarak küresel antikapitalist hareket ve bu hareketin Türkiye'deki yansımalarında yeni iletişim teknolojilerinin nasıl bir yer tuttuğunu göstermeyi amaçlamaktadır.Bu amaçla çalışmada, yeni iletişim teknolojilerinin temel özellikleri anlatılmış daha sonra buradan yola çıkan enformasyon toplumu yaklaşımları konu edilmiştir. Kapitalizmin krizi ve neoliberalizm tartışması ile enformasyon toplumu yaklaşımları beraber ele alınmıştır. Daha sonra toplumsal hareket teorilerinde süreklilik ve kopuşun izi sürülmüş, bu teoriler yeni iletişim teknolojileri bağlamında ele alınmıştır.Bu yaklaşımların küresel antikapitalist hareket içinde ne tür etkiler yarattığı da tartışılmış, iletişim teknolojilerine göre konumlanışın praksis üzerindeki etkisi gösterilmeye çalışılmıştır. Son olarak antikapitalist hareketle, yeni iletişim teknolojileri arasındaki bağlantıları gösterebilmek için Türkiye'den Küresel BAK örneği işlenmiş, aktivistlerle yapılan planlanmamış derinlemesine görüşmeler aracılığı ile bilgi toplanmıştır.Tezin vardığı sonuç, post endüstriyel bir enformasyon toplumu içinde yaşamadığımız, dolayısıyla toplumsal hareketler açısından bir kopuştan değil de süreklilikten bahsedilmesi gerektiğidir. Bu bağlamda iletişim teknolojileri, toplumsal hareketler için çok kullanışlı olmakla beraber, asla hareketin temelini oluşturmamaktadır.

This project, examines the relation between the new communication technologies and the global anticapitalist movement which has spread to the world after stopping the World Trade Organization summit at Seattle in 1999. The purpose of the working is to correlate the theories of break and continuity about the new social movements with a larger social theory and considering this, to show how new communication technologies take space in the global anticapitalist movement and its reflections in Turkey.For this purpose, the primary properties of the new communication technologies are told and the information community approaches are considered. The crisis of the capitalism, neoliberalism arguments and the information community approaches are considered togther. Then, the break and the continuity aprroches are traced in the theorise of new social movements and these theories are interpreted in the context of new communication technologies.Also here discussed, these approaches created what kind of effects in the global anticapitalist movement and tried to show effects of positioning according to communication technologies on praxis. At last, from Turkey the Küresel BAK (Global Peace and Justice Coalition) example worked up for pointing out ties between anticapitalist movement and communication technologies and seeked information through unplanned indepth interviews treated with acitivists.The conclusion of this master project is that we are not living in a post-industrial communication society, consequently we should not talk about a break in terms of social movements but a continuity. In this context, altough the communication technologies are very useful for the social movements, they never constitute the basis of the movements.
