Özet
Platon için iki evren vardır. Birisi maddi olan, gözle görebildiğimiz, duyularımızla algılayabildiğimiz kısacası içinde yaşadığımız nesneler evreni, diğeri bu evrende olan her şeyin, her kavramın aslının olduğu, duyularımızla değil ama aklımızla kavrayabildiğimiz ve var olduğuna inandığımız idealar evrenidir. Platon, bütün felsefesini bu idealar evreni üzerine kurmuştur. O'na göre, idealar evrenindeki her şey tektir ve mükemmeldir, nesneler evreni dediğimiz, yaşadığımız evrendeki her şey ise bu mükemmel ideaların birer kopyasıdır. Öyleyse insanın hedefi, bu idealar evrenine ulaşmak olmalıdır. İdealar evrenine ulaşmak, ?iyi? ideasına ulaşmakla mümkün olur.?İyi? ideasına ulaşmak demek, iyi ve mutlu insana ulaşmak demektir. Bunu sağlayacak olan dört temel nitelik vardır. Bilgelik, cesaret, ölçülülük ve hepsini kapsayan adalet. İşte Platon'un amacı, bu dört özelliğe sahip bireylerden oluşmuş bir toplum ve bu toplumu yöneten, aynı şekilde eğitilmiş, yetiştirilmiş filozof-yöneticilerin yönettiği bir devlettir. Ancak böyle bir devlette mutlu insanlardan söz edilebilir. Platon, böyle bir toplumu ve devleti oluşturmanın, eğitimle mümkün olacağını bilmektedir. Eğitime, müzikle başlar. Fakat bu eğitim, sadece bir haz eğitimi değildir. Plato'un istediği aynı zamanda zihnin ve karakterlerin eğitimidir. Müziğin insan karakteri üzerindeki etkisini bildiği için de müziği, eğitimin temeline koyar.Platon'un müziğe bakışını yansıtan bu tavrını ve müziğe yaklaşımını tam olarak anlayabilmenin, ancak onun, genel felsefesini anlamaktan geçeceği düşünülerek, birinci bölümde Platon ve Felsefesi verilmeye çalışıldı. Çünkü önce onu tanımak, onu anlamayı kolaylaştıracaktı.İkinci bölümde, Platon'un sanat anlayışı üzerinde durulmuştur. Sanat bir taklittir diyen Platon'un aslında müziğe, bu taklit sanatlar içinde yer almasına rağmen, eğitim konusunda nasıl bu kadar önemli bir görev yüklediği sorusu hemen akla gelebilir. İşte bu bölümde Platon'un, sanatın geneline bakışını ve asıl üçüncü bölümde de hangi koşullarla bu görevi, müziğe verdiği açıklanmaya çalışıldı.Üçüncü bölüm ise daha çok Platon'un müzik anlayışını belirleyen, müzikal geri planını ve özellikle Devlet'te hedeflediği ve Yasalar'da destekleyip ayrıntılandırdığı müzik eğitimi ele alınmıştır.ANAHTAR KELİMELER: Antik Çağ, Antik Müzik, Felsefe, Platon, Müzik Eğitimi.

According to Plato, there are two types of cosmologies. The first one is basically the cosmology of the concrete elements that we can perceive with our five senses and the other type is the cosmology of ideas that consists of the original elements that we can not understand with our five senses but feel with our mind and believe in their existence . Plato establishes his entire theories on these two cosmologies. According to Plato, the elements that we feel with our senses are unique and have their own perfection . The elements that we feel with our five senses are the copies of the perfect elements that we feel with our mind. That?s way, the aim of human beings is to reach the cosmology of ideas which is possible only by reaching the idea of ?good?.To reach the idea of ?good? means to reach the eternal happiness of life. There are four essences that support us to reach to eternal happiness. These are wisdom, courage, moderation and justice that covers everything. Plato?s goal is to have the society with these four essences and this kind of society should be governed by the state that is guided philosophers-managers having the same type of education and training and this is the only way to have happy society and to reach eternal happiness. Plato believes that education is the only key to have such kind of society and government. Education starts with music but this education is not only the way to give plesure to people but also to educate the intellect and character of people. As Plato knows the influence of music on human character he gives the priority to music in education.The first part is about Plato and his philosophy to understand Plato?s approach towards music and, to make people understand his philosophy easier.In the second part, we discuss about Plato?s sense of Music as an art, his approach towards art in general and why he gives importance to music in education. Plato thinks that art is the combination of imitation. Although music is one of imititive arts, paradoxical questions about music may arise as he focuses music in education.In the third part, Plato?s musical background that determines his sense of music and the positive aspects of music education that the state aims and that is specified the details in the regulations are discussed.KEY WORDS: Ancient Age, Ancient Music, Phylosophia, Plato, Music Education.
