Özet
Anicius Manlius Severinus Boethius, Ortaçağ'ın Erken Skolastik döneminde yaşamıştır. Ortaçağ'ın en önemli düşünürlerinden biri olarak bilinen ve Hristiyanlık inancına sahip olan Boethius, Ortaçağ Hristiyan toplumu tarafından teolog, filozof ve bilim insanı gibi pek çok sıfat ile anılmaktadır. Tümeller tartışmasını başlatan kişi olarak bilinen Boethius, aynı zamanda Antik Yunan'ın önemli filozofları olan Pythagoras, Platon ve Aristoteles'in mantık, etik ve müzik alanlarında kaleme almış oldukları eserleri Ortaçağ'a taşıyan ve Ortaçağ insanı ile tanıştıran kişi olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Bu çalışmada öncelikle, Antik Yunan filozoflarının, felsefe anlayışları ile birlikte, Antik Yunan felsefesinin ve müzik kültürünün Batı felsefesi ve müziğinde yazılmış ilk metinleri barındırması sebebiyle, Antik Yunan Dönemi, ele alınmıştır. Buna bağlı olarak Antik Yunan'da müzik anlayışı, Pythagoras başta olmak üzere, Platon ve Aristoteles'in müzik felsefeleri incelenerek, bu düşünürlerin müzik, matematik, uyum ve harmonia gibi kavramları gerek müziğin etik ve pratik yönü ile gerekse teorik yönü ile ele almaları ve bu anlayış doğrultusunda Boethius'un müzik kuramı ve felsefesi üzerine yazmış olduğu Müzik Üzerine (De İnstitutione Musica) adlı esere yansımaları araştırmalar doğrultusunda aktarılmıştır. Boethius'un müzik felsefesinin kökenlerinin araştırıldığı bu çalışmada, özellikle Antik Yunan müzik kuramının başlatıcısı olarak bilinen Pythagoras'ın müzik kuramı ve felsefesinin doğrudan ve dolaylı olarak Boethius'a etki etmiş olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır.

Anicius Manlius Severinus Boethius lived in the Early Scholastic period of the Middle and has a Christian belief, is referred to by many adjectives such as theologian, philosopher and scientist by the medieval Christian society. Known as the person who started the discussion of universals, Boethius also appears as the person who brought the works of Pythagoras, Plato and Aristotle, the important philosophers of Ancient Greece, to the Middle Ages, in the fields of logic, ethics and music, and introduced them to the people of the Middle Ages. In this study, first of all, the Ancient Greek Period has been discussed, as it contains the first texts of Ancient Greek philosophy and music culture written in Western philosophy and music, together with the understanding of philosophy of Ancient Greek philosophers. Accordingly, the understanding of music in Ancient Greece, the music philosophies of Plato and Aristotle, especially Pythagoras, were examined, and these thinkers discussed the concepts such as music, mathematics, harmony and harmonia with both the ethical and practical aspects of music, and the theoretical aspects of music. In line with this understanding, the reflections of Boethius's work called De Institutione Musica, which he wrote on music theory and philosophy, were conveyed in line with research. In this study, in which the origins of Boethius' philosophy of music were investigated, it was concluded that the music theory and philosophy of Pythagoras, especially known as the initiator of the Ancient Greek music theory, had a direct and indirect effect on Boethius.Ages. Boethius, who is known as one of the most important thinkers of the Middle Ages.
