Özet
42 SUMMARY Mechanization contributies a great deal to the quality and quantity of agricultural production and is growing rapidly as techonology develops. The techonolojical development, whose main objective has been to increase all sorth of production along with decreasing by phsical load share of the working human being, has also created health and safety problems, caused by unavoidable man-machine interactions. Organizantional health and safety was been the most important problem of our labour live as well as the problem of all developed and developing countries. In this study agricultural mechanization safety problems of the Çukurova Region have been investigated by questionaire considering equal distribution of establishment and also farms which have tractor or famı machinery. The primary objective of this study was to determine accident frequency rates use of tractor, combines, tillages, wagons, and other farm machinery. The second purpose of this study was to accumulate a body of quantitative data from which effective countermeasures can be formulated that will result in a reduction in farm accident losses and developing the some recommendation in order to reduce farm accidents. During the 20 months period in 1990-1992 years, investigated 655 farm accident in the Çukurova Region. This study findings summarized, included the following, 1. During the 20 months period between, 1990-1992 years 655 farm accidents involving 874 person investigated. In these accidents, 133 person died and 34 person had disabling injuries. 366 person of the remanining 707 person had severe injuries (broken, bones, cuts requiring treatments, sprained back etc.). On the other hand, 341 person had no injuries. 2. Accidents varied according to type of farms. 3. Accident rates tented to increase with the intensity of farming operation. 4. During the 20 mounths period, each farms had one or more accident. 5. Fifty-five percent of victims required hospitalization. 6. The highest accident frequency, by age group, was found to be amoung family members 15-24 age group and male employeses 25-44 age group. 7. Seventy percent of all accident occured during October, November, and December. 8. Thirty-seven percent of the accident to farm occured in the home, thirty-seven percent on the farm outside the home, and twenty-six percent while away from farm.43 9. Of all accident reported, 487 (74.3 percent) involved the tractors. Farm machinery was involved in about 26 percent of the farm accident. 10. Tractor operators had a very high accident frequency rate on public roads. 1 1. A higher tractor accident rate is experienced by young operator under 21 years of age and older operators over 64 years old. 12. Forty-two percent of the victim were killed when the tractor overturned. One-four these deaths occured when the tractor overturned sideways. About 61 percent of these killed were members of families of time farmers and 20 percent had full-time employement other farming. 13. 470 of all tractor accidents reported, involved tractor with no safety cabs. 14. Weather was a factor in twenty percent of the tractor accidents, mechanical failfure was a countributing factor is less than five percent of the cases. 15. Wagons had a very high accident frequency rate (sixty-three) amoung the farm machines. 16. Over sixty percent of wagon accident was done by family labour and farm employers.
