Özet
Türkiye'de Modernitenin Ötekisi: Kadın ve Kimliği konulu bu araştırmanın amacı, kadının toplumsal yapı içerisindeki konumunu ve kimliğini belirleyen unsurları ortaya koymak ve ortaya konan bu unsurları açıklamaktır. Araştırmanın temel hipotezi ise modernleşmenin getirmiş olduğu avantajlarla toplumsal alan içerisinde kendine ev dışında bir yaşam alanı da oluşturan kadının, bütün bunlara rağmen ilk ve öncelikli rolünün eş ve anne olduğudur. Kadının eş ve annelik rolü, diğer kamusal (çalışma, siyaset vb. alanlar) alanlardaki rollerin üstünde bir konuma sahiptir. Dolayısıyla kadın, sadece kadın olmasından ötürü ilk önce ailede eş ve anne olmakta daha sonra diğer toplumsal yaşam alanlarını oluşturan çalışma, siyasal vb. gibi alanlarda yer almaktadır.Araştırma kuramsal olup, beş bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölümde modernite, modernleşme, öteki, kadın, kimlik, cinsiyet (sex), toplumsal cinsiyet (gender), feminizm kavramları açıklanmıştır. İkinci bölümde konumuzun temel ögesi olan kadının sosyal teoriler tarafından nasıl ele alındığı ve açıklandığı üzerinde durulmuştur. Üçüncü bölümde kavramsal çerçevede elde edilen bilgiler temelinde kadınların bugünkü toplumsal rol ve konumunu anlamak ve açıklayabilmek için tarihsel süreçteki (Batı'da ve ülkemizde) kadına yer verilmiştir. Araştırmanın ana bölümünü oluşturan dördüncü bölümde ise Türkiye'deki kadın hareketlerine ve bu hareketlerin de getirileriyle oluşturulan günümüzdeki Türk kadının toplumsal yaşam alanlarındaki (ailede, çalışma yaşamında, siyasal alanda ve yasal alanda) konumuna yer verilmiş ve açıklamalar yapılarak, çözümlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Son bölümde ise varılan sonuçlar üzerinde değerlendirmeler yapılmıştır.Tarih boyunca kadına verilmiş olan rol ve statüler (sadece kadın olmasından ötürü), onun `kadın olmak' sorununu doğurmuştur. Kadına verilmiş bu rol ve statüler ise toplumdaki dinsel ögelerden, gelenek ve göreneklerden kısacası yaşam biçimlerinden, o toplumdaki ekonomik, siyasal ve yasal ideolojilerden etkilenmekte ve belirlenmektedirler.Biyolojinin bir kader olduğuna inanan/inandırılan kadın, erkeğin göreli üstünlüğünü kabul ederek onun karşısında ötekiyi oluşturmuş, kimliğini de bunun üstüne inşa etmiştir.

The aim of this study which has the subject of the other of Modernity in Turkey: Woman and her identity is to show the factors that determine the position of the woman in the social structure and her identity, and to explain the factors put forth. The main hypothesis of the study is that though the woman has created an area of life herself outside her home with the help of the advantages produced by modernity, the first and before all else duty of the woman is still being mother and wife. The roles of maternity and wife have a place over all other public roles (such as work, politics etc.). That is why, woman has been accepted as a mother first just because she is a female, and then she takes her role in other areas of life such as work and politics.This is an institutional study and it is composed of five parts. In the first part, the concepts of modernity, the other, woman, identity, sex, gender and feminism have been explained. In the second part, it has been studied how woman, the main element of our subject, has been considered and explained by social theories. In the third part, under the light of the information gathered in the conceptual context, the place of women in the historical context has been given in order to understand and explain their present social situation and roles. In the fourth part, the main part of our study, woman?s movements in Turkey and the position of Turkish women in the areas of life (in the family, work life, in politics and legal area), which have been brought about by the yields of these movement, have been studied, and thus these movements have been tried to explain by making explanations. In the last part evaluations on the results have been done.The roles and statues given to woman throughout the history has created the problem of ?being a woman?. These roles and statues given to woman affected by the religious elements, traditions and convention in that society; in brief they are affected and determined by the way of life, economic, social and legal ideologies in that society.The woman who has been convinced / believes that biology is the fate has accepted the relative superiority of the man and created the other opposed to him and has built her own identity on it.
