Özet
Bu araştırma İlköğretim 4. Sınıf İngilizce dersi öğretim programında belirtilen kazanımlara öğrencilerin ulaşma düzeyini, programın öğrencilerin akademik özgüvenlerine etkisini ve programa ilişkin öğretmen görüşlerini belirlemeye yönelik olarak yapılmıştır.Bu çalışmada betimsel araştırma yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini Antalya ili merkez ilçeye bağlı ilköğretim okulları ve bu okullarda görev yapan İngilizce öğretmenleri oluşturmaktadır. Bu okullar üst, orta ve alt düzey okullar olarak sınıflandırılmış, oranlı küme örnekleme yöntemiyle her düzey okul grubunu temsil eden örneklem sayıları belirlenmiştir. Örneklemi 415 ilköğretim 4. sınıf öğrencisi ve 147 İngilizce öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada ?Yıl Düzey Belirleme Testi?, ?Akademik Benlik Kavramı Ölçeği?, ?Anket?, ?Görüşme? ve ?Gözlem? formları kullanılmıştır. Veri toplama araçlarından elde edilen veriler SPSS paket programındaki uygun analiz teknikleri kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Gözlem yoluyla elde edilen veriler yüzde ve frekanslarla, görüşme verilerinin analizinde ise betimsel analiz tekniği kullanılmıştır.Araştırma sonucunda ulaşılan sonuçlar aşağıda özetlenmiştir.Öğretim süreci sonunda 0.75 düzeyinde kazanıma en fazla ulaşabilen okullar üst, orta ve alt düzey okul grupları olarak sıralanmaktadır. Hedeflenen kazanımlara ulaşma düzeyleri açısından gruplar değerlendirildiğinde, üst grup orta ve alt gruptan; orta grup ise alt gruptan anlamlı düzeyde yüksek bulunmuştur.Programın her okul düzeyinde öğrencilerin akademik özgüvenleri üzerinde etkili olduğu saptanmıştır. Gruplara ait ön test ve son test puan ortalamaları arasındaki farkların istatiksel olarak anlamlı olduğu görülmektedir.Öğretmenlerin İlköğretim 4. sınıf programına ilişkin genel olarak görüşleri olumlu olmakla birlikte, programın öğelerine yönelik eksiklikler olduğu yönünde görüş bildirmişlerdir. Öğretmenlerin görüşleri arasında mezun oldukları okul ve kıdemleri açısından anlamlı bir farkın olmadığı tespit edilmiştir.

This research was carried out to find out attainability of behavioral objectives in Fourth Grade English Language Teaching Program, the effect of program on students? academic self-confidence and the opinions of teachers as to the program.Descriptive study model was employed in this research. The population of the study comprised elementary schools in the central towns of Antalya and foreign language teachers employed in these schools. The schools were classified under three disparate groups as `high, medium and low? ones through Proportional to Size Cluster Sampling method and the number of sampling representing each school was determined .The sample consisted of 415 fourth grade pupils and 147 English teachers. The data of the research were collected through tests, academic self-confidence scale, questionnaires, interviews with teachers and classroom observations.The quantitative data were analyzed through SPSS software program. The data collected through observation were turned into quantitative units and analyzed by means of percent and frequency techniques. Descriptive techniques were used to analyze the data gathered from the interwievs.The results of the study are as follows:1. When the number of behavior at 0.75 level realized at the end of the educational term was made proportional to the level of schools , it was found that the schools were rated from the highest level to the lowest level as ` high, medium and low? level schools. It was established that there was a statistically difference at the level of 0.5 between school levels considering the realization rate of aimed behaviors. It was found that the difference was in favor of the medium group between the low and medium group, between the low and high groups the difference was in favor of the high group and the difference was in favor of the high group between the medium and high group.2. It was established that the program was effective on affective characteristics of students at all school groups and that this effect was statistically significant at each level school.3. The analysis of the data revealed that although the participant English language teachers have moderately positive opinions on the components of the program, they still think that there are inefficient points of Elementary School Fourth Grade English Language Teaching Program that need to be revised and developed.
