Özet
Bu tez, Giambattista Vico`nun tarih düşüncesini, onun düşünsel arka planını belirleyen etkenlerle ilişkili olarak incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu etkenler, tarih felsefesinin temel problemleri bağlamında, Vico`nun insan, inayet, akıl, şiir, Homeros, tarihin seyri, bilim ve yöntem kavramlarıdır. Vico`nun temel eseri olan Yeni Bilim, çalışmamızda ana kaynak olarak kullanılmıştır. Yeni Bilim'den hareketle, Vico`nun tarih düşüncesini belirleyen kavramlar arasındaki ilişkilere işaret edilmiş; bunun yanı sıra, tarih felsefesinin kavramları ile bağlantılı olarak, çelişkiler ve eksikliklere dikkat çekilmeye çalışılmıştır.

This thesis aims to investigate Giambattista Vico`s idea of history concerning the factors which had determined his intellectual background. These factors are Vico`s conception of humanity, divine providence, reason, ?poetic`, Homer, course of history, science and method in the context of main problems of philosophy of history. The New Science, which is the main work of Vico, has used as central reference of our study. Through the insights gained from The New Science, the relations between the conceptions of Vico`s idea of history have been pointed out, and in the meanwhile, contradictions and deficiencies throughout these conceptions regarding the concepts of history of philosophy have been remarked.
