Özet
İnsanın bir değeri olarak sanat eseri en eski çağlardan beri insan hayatının merkezi konumunda yer almıştır. Kimi zaman insan arzularının yansıtılması, kimi zaman gerçeğin bir taklidi (mimesis) olarak, kimi zaman belli bir gerçeği göstermek, kimi zaman da insana kendi olanaklarını göstermek için kullanılmıştır. Bu anlamda tarihsel çerçevede sanat eserine yönelik farklı yaklaşımlar ortaya konulmuştur. Bu yaklaşımlardan bazıları sanat eserinin anlamının yazara bağlı olduğunu düşünürken, bazıları metne veya okuyucuya yönelmişlerdir. Bu tezde Eco?nun hangi çerçevede değerlendirebileceğini göstermek içinbu tarihsel çerçeveye değinilmiştir. Bu sayede onun yanlış anlaşılan birinci dönemine açıklık getirileceği düşünülmüştür. Bu anlamda giriş bölümü sanat eserinin anlam sorunu üzerindeki tartışmaya ayrılmıştır. Birinci bölümde ise Eco?nun sanat eserinin anlamı sorununda hermeneutiğe önem verdiği gösterilmiştir. İkinci bölümde Eco?nun yanlış anlaşılmasına sebep olan ?Açık Yapıt? kitabı ele alınmıştır. Tezin merkezinde bulunan üçüncü bölümde ise Eco?nun ?Açık Yapıt?la hesaplaşması ve yanlış anlaşılmayı düzeltme çabası gösterilmiştir. Dördüncü bölümde ise Eco?nun asıl amacının örneği olan Foucault Sarkacı? romanına değinilmiştir. Sonuç olarak Umberto Eco?nun sanat eserinin anlamı tartışmasında kendini nasıl konumlandırdığı ortaya çıkarılmaya çalışılmıştır.

Work of art as the value of man has taken part in center of human life since ancient times. Sometimes, work of art was used to as the reflection of human desires, and sometimes, as an imitation of reality (mimesis). Meanwhile, work of art was used to showing the fact and possibilities of human own. So, different approaches have been defined to work of art through the history. While some of these approaches think depending on author about meaning work of art, the others think depending on text or reader. Showing Eco?s positions we mentioned to the historical perspective in this thesis. This study?s aim correct to misunderstanding about Eco?s first period. In this sense the introduction part is for the discussion about the meaning problem of work of art. In first part it is showed that Eco has paid attention to hermeneutic in the meaning problem of work of art. In second part the book ?Open Work? which causes that Eco has been misunderstood is discussed. In third part which is in the center of this study that Eco reckons with Open Work and tries to correct the misunderstanding is showed. In fourth part the novel Foucault Pendulum which is the example of Eco?s major aim is mentioned. As a result how Umberto Eco positions himself in the discussion of the meaning work of art comes out.KEY WORDS: Human, work of art, meaning, interpretation, hermeneutik, Umberto Eco
