Özet
Bu çalışmanın temel amacı; ilköğretim 8.sınıf öğrencilerinin origami tabanlı öğretimleiki ve üç boyutlu düşünebilme becerileri ve yeterliliklerinin araştırılması vegeliştirilmesidir.Araştırma, iki aşamadan oluşmaktadır. Araştırmanın 1.aşaması olan taramaaraştırmasında Samsun iline bağlı bir ilköğretim okulunda öğrenim gören 165 sekizincisınıf öğrencisine 6 açık uçlu soru içeren“Geometrik Şekil ve Cisimler Testi”uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen nitel veriler, betimsel istatistiki yöntemlerle analiz edilmiştir.Araştırmanın 2.aşamasında 32 sekizinci sınıf öğrencisine origami tabanlı öğretimuygulanmıştır. Bu aşamada çalışmanın nicel kısmında tek gruplu ön test-son test modelikullanılmıştır.“Geometri Başarı Testi”origami tabanlı öğretim yapılan çalışma grubunaön test ve son test olarak uygulanmıştır. Nitel kısmında veriler, origami tabanlı öğretimyapılan gruptan seçilen 6 öğrenci ile yapılan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmelerden eldeedilmiştir. Geometri başarı testinden toplanan nicel veriler SPSS programında t-testleriile analiz edilirken, yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmelerden elde edilen nitel veriler betimselyaklaşımla analiz edilmiştir.Araştırmanın 1.aşamasından elde edilen sonuçlar, öğrencilerin üç boyutlu düşünebilmebecerilerinin düşük bir seviyede olduğunu göstermiştir. Araştırmanın 2.aşamasındabaşarı testi sonuçları, origami tabanlı öğretimin 8.sınıf öğrencilerinin geometri başarılarıüzerine (ön testten son teste) anlamlı ve pozitif bir etkiye sahip olduğunu göstermektedir. Ayrıca origami etkinlikleri içeren yarı yapılandırılmışgörüşmelerde öğrencilerin iki boyutludan üç boyutlu düşünceye geçebilme, geometrikşekil ve geometrik cisim arasında ilişki kurabilme, boyut kavramı ve temel elemanlarayönelik yorumlamalar yapabilme ve geometrik cisimlerin açınımını çizebilmebecerilerinin geliştiği sonucuna varılmıştır.

The main purpose of the study is to investigate and develop the 8th grade students'ability and adequacy about two and three dimensional thinking by origami basedinstruction.The research is composed of two stages. At the first stage of the research in surveyresearch, 165 eighth grade students of a primary school in Samsun were given a“TheGeometric Shapes and Objects Test”which consists of six open ended questions. Thedecriptive statistics methods were used to analyze the qualitative data collected from thetest. At the second stage of the research origami based instruction was applied to 32eighth grade students. In this stage of the research one group pre-test and post-testdesign was used for the quantitative part. The Geometry Achievement Test was given tothe group that received origami based instruction as pretest and posttest. In thequalitative part of the second stage the data were collected through semi-structuredinterviews with 6 students which were selected from the group that received origamibased instruction. While the quantitative data collected from the geometric achievementtest were analyzed using t-tests in SPSS program, the qulitative data from the semistructured interviews were analyzed descriptive methods.The results of the first stage indicated that three dimensional thinking ability of thestudents' is at a low level. In the second stage the results of the achievement test (from pre-treatment to post-treatment) indicated that that there was a significant positive effectof origami-based instruction on 8th grade students' geometry achievement (*p<.05).Besides that, in the semi-structured interviews that contains origami activities, it wasconcluded that the students' abilities of passing from the two dimensional thinking tothe three dimensional thinking, establishing relations between geometric shapes andgeometric objects, making comments about dimension concept and basic elements anddrawing the development of geometric shapes were progressed.Kew Words: 8th Grade, Geometric Objects, Geometric Shapes, Geometry Instruction,Origami.
