Özet
Huzurevi olgusunu mekânsal olarak ele aldığımızda, Türkiye coğrafyasının doğu ve batı bölgelerinde farklılıkların olduğu görülür. Bu noktada doğuda huzurevlerinin boş, batıda ise tam tersi bir şekilde dolu, hatta yaşlıların sırada beklediği bir durum gözlenir. Bu gözlemin bir sonucu olarak tez, Türkiyenin batı ve doğu coğrafyasını toplumsal yapı dikkate alınarak, kentleşme düzeyi bağlamında karşılaştırır. Türkiye?nin Doğusunda ve Batısında Huzurevlerinin Kıyaslanması adlı araştırmamızda yaşlılık olgusu çeşitli yönleriyle incelenir. Ağrı ve İstanbuldaki huzurevlerinde kalan yaşlılar aile yapıları, huzurevi öncesi, huzurevini değerlendirme biçimleri ortaya koymak amacı ile yapılmıştır. Tez, farklı yaşam modellerinden iki bölgede yaşlıların, yaşam tercihleri ve gelecek beklentilerini belirleyerek, kendi yaşlılıklarına bakışları ve sorunlarını saptamayı amaçlar. Toplanan verilerin değerlendirilip ve yorumlanması sonucunda, modern toplumun çekirdek aileye evirildiği, yaşlı bireylerin statüsünün toplum içerisinde değiştiği görülmüştür

When we think of nursing homes as a spatial phenomenon, the eastern and western parts of the geography of Turkey is that there are differences. At this point, blank nursing homes in the east to the west is full of exactly the opposite way, or even waiting a situation is observed in the elderly .Thesis as a result of this observation, taking into account the social structure in the geography of the west and east, in the context of the level of urbanization compares. Comparison of Turkey's east and west of the nursing home study examined various aspects of the phenomenon of aging. Thesis, the elderly in two regions of different models of life, life choices and determining the needs of the future, to determine the purposes and problems of their own yaşlılıklarına gaze. At this point, with residential homes in Ağrı and Istanbul, this study reveals the changes of modern society, urbanization, culture, family on the effects of old age, and finally to examine the elderly can take advantage of offers in terms of social networks. Evaluated and interpretation of the data collected as a result of the nuclear family evirildiği modern society, the status of older people in the community had changed
