In this work we present design, construction and performance of a hybrid pyranometer between Star and Black and White types. The sensor of the pyranometer consists of three pairs of black and white metal surfaces. Thermocouples are attached under the surfaces with epoxy rezin, and connected in series to form a thermopile. Pyranometer has a borosilicate glass dome and a desiccator box filled with granular silicagell. The constructed pyranometer has an instrument constant of about lxlO-6 Volts/W/m2 . Its response time being about 22 seconds. After making comparison with standard pyranometer: and pyroheliometer data, instrument was shown to be linear within! 0,5 percentup to~intensities of 1400 W/m2 • Deviation from the cosine law wask5s than 3 percent. The output does not depend on the ambient temperature, for the sooe temperature interval. 'The longterm stability has been investigated for more than 6 months and has been found to be stable within 3 percent. Zero position constancy also being seen to be good for the above time interval.
