Özet

Bu çalışmanın amacı, ortaokul 6. sınıf öğrencilerinin fen teknoloji toplum çevre kazanım düzeylerinin incelenmesidir. Çalışmada betimsel araştırmaya dayalı karşılaştırmalı araştırma yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini 2012-2013 eğitim-öğretim yılının II. döneminde Van ilindeki devlet okulları ile özel okullarda 6. sınıfa devam eden 239 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Devlet okulu ve özel okullardaki 204 öğrenciye ''Madde ve Isı Başarı Testi'' ve“Işık ve Ses Başarı Testi? ön ve son-test olarak, 236 öğrenciye ”Bilimsel Süreç Beceri Testi“ ve 239 öğrenciye ”Fen Teknoloji Toplum Çevre Testi" konu bitiminde son test olarak uygulanmıştır. Öğrenme alanı olarak 6. Ünite olan ''Madde ve Isı'' ünitesi ile 7. Ünite olan ''Işık ve Ses'' ünitesi seçilmiştir. Araştırmada nicel veriler SPSS 18.0 (Statistical Package For Social Science) istatistik paket programında bağımlı örneklem t-testi, bağımsız örneklem t-testi ve ANOVA kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen veriler incelendiğinde; 1. Öğrencilerin Ön-Madde ve Isı Başarı Testi ve Son-Madde ve Isı Başarı Testi akademik başarı puanları karşılaştırıldığında öğrencilerin konu sonundaki akademik başarı puanları ile konu öncesindeki puanları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılığın bulunduğu belirlenmiştir. 2. Öğrencilerin Ön-Işık ve Ses Başarı Testi ve Son-Işık ve Ses Başarı Testi akademik başarı puanları karşılaştırıldığında öğrencilerin konu sonundaki akademik başarı puanları ile konu öncesindeki puanları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılığın bulunduğu belirlenmiştir. 3. Özel okul ve devlet okulu öğrencilerinin Ön-Işık ve Ses Başarı Testi ve Son-Işık ve Ses Başarı Testi akademik başarı puanları karşılaştırıldığında grupların akademik başarı puanları farkları arasında devlet okulu lehine istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık olduğu belirlenmiştir. 4. Özel okul ve devlet okulu öğrencilerinin Bilimsel Süreç Beceri Testi puanları konu sonrasında karşılaştırıldığında grupların bilimsel süreç becerileri puanları arasında özel okul lehine istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık olduğu belirlenmiştir. 5. Özel okul ve devlet okulu öğrencilerinin Fen Teknoloji Toplum Çevre Testi puanları konu sonrasında karşılaştırıldığında grupların puanları fakları arasında özel okul lehine istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık olduğu belirlenmiştir.

The aim of this study is to investigate the acquisition levels of 6th grade middle school students in science-technology- society-environment. In the study, causal comparative research design based on decriptive study is used. The sample of the study is formed by 239 students registered in 6th grade in public and private schools in Van during the second semester 2012-2013 education year. ?Matter and Heat Achievement Test? and ?Light and Sound Achievement Test? were administered to 204 students as pre- and post-tests; ?Science Process Skills Test? was administered to 236 students and ?Science-Technology-Society-Environment Test? was administered to 236 students as post-tests in public and private schools. 6th unit ?Matter and Heat? and the 7th unit ?Light and Sound? were selected as learning domain. Quantitative data were analyzed using paired-sample t-test, independent-samples t-test and one-way ANOVA in SPSS 18.0. As the findings of the study were investigated; 6. A statistically significant difference was found between students? academic achievement scores before and after instruction when their Pre- and Post-Matter-and-Heat-Achievement-Test scores were compared. 7. A statistically significant difference was found between students? academic achievement scores before and after instruction when their Pre- and Post-Light-and-Sound-Achievement-Test scores were compared. 8. When the public and private school students? academic achievement score differences between Pre- and Post-Light-and-Sound-Achievement-Tests were compared, there found a statistically significant difference between difference scores of students in public and private schools in favor of public schools. 9. When the public and private school students? Science Process Skills Test scores were compared at the end of the instruction, there found a statistically significant difference between scores of students in public and private schools in favor of private schools. 10. When the public and private school students? Science Technology Society Environment Test scores were compared at the end of the instruction, there found a statistically significant difference between scores of students in public and private schools in favor of private schools.
