IV.11. SUMMARY In this work pyrite that a kind of the iron minerals and ferrous sulphate which is prepared by chemically are roasted in the various temperatures and periods. These samples which are roasted are taken photographs. The percentages of iron and sulphate contents are determined by Volumetric and Gravimetric methods in roasted samples. And the results are summarised in Table IV. 7.1 and IV. 7. 2. The ferrous sulphate crystals are calcined in oven at 600°C, 700°C 800°C, 90Q°C temperatures and each temperature, calcination time is held for 1,2 and 3 hours. Ferric oxide is obtained after calcination The colour of the residual ferric oxide ranges from orange-red to a deep violet-red, and it is dependent on the temperature of calcination. If the ferrous sulphate is roasted by mixing a manganese salt before calcination, the deep violet-red is obtained. The red ferric oxide colours are obtained by roasting ferrous sulphate with HC1. Concentrated pyrite are calcined in oven at 600°C, 700°C 800°C, 900°C temperatures for 1,2 and 3 hours. Ferric oxide is obtained after calcination The colour of the residual ferric oxide ranges from deep-brown to a black. - 37 -X-ray diffractions of roasted ferrous sulphate and pyrite in the various temperatures and periods are taken. The ferric oxide is seen by the diffraction of roasted ferrous sulphate. The ferric oxide, Quartz and Cristobalite are seen by the diffraction of roasted pyrite. - 38
