Özet (Çeviri)

This research includes, The Short Tales of the Ming-Qing Dyanasties. It is a study of the historical development of Chinese fiction from early myths and legends to well developed writings of the Late Ming Period to the early Qing Period. Chinese fiction has its roots in story telling and folk literature of this kind was despised by the feudal ruling class. The characteristic various forms o'f fiction through the centuries of development of these forms and their influences on each other are lucidly presented whithin such major works as the novels, Jing-Ping-Mei, Water Margin, The Pilgrimage to the west and The Story of Tree Kingdom. The ancient Chinese believed in ghosts and deites who lived apart from men and in order to comminicate with them they had shamans or wizards. Later, these shamans split into two groups, priest and alchemistsr The priests talked about spirits; the alchemists about making gold and attainning immortality. This was the fashion from the Chin and Han dynasties right down to the Six Dynasties. There was much fighting and social unrest between the Han Dynasty and the six Dynasties. As men had a gloomy view of life, Budhizm and Taoizm were popular and many escapist ideas were generally accepted. The writers of this period wrote about saints and fairies and there were more such tales during the Tang and song dynasties which had a great influence on later ideas and fiction, in the Tang Dynasty fiction underwent a great change. The scholars of the six Dynasties did not consider social talk of tales as fiction for they believed 169these ghost stories and anecdotes, but Tang scholars began to write fiction consciously. So this was a great step forward in the history of Chinese fiction. Tang stories called that“Chuan Chi”in the Song Dynasty, the letters spoke of ancient things. Furthermore because Neo-Confucuanism was in such vogue during the Song Dynasty, even fiction acquired a Confucian flavour and stories without morals were thougt rather worthless. Although, Chuan Chi or prose romances died out in the Song Dynasty, some writers continued to produce such stories. But in this period, the catogory of some long romance like The story of the Three Kingdoms were based on historcal Song narratives. This category was more influential and ever since the Ming Dynasty the history of earlier times has all been told in romances. Though the Yuan Dynasty was a splendid age for drama, there was little written in the way of fiction. In the Yuan Dynasty both Budhism and Taoism flourished and Alchemists were highly influential. At the end of the Ming Dynasty < 1368- 1644) and early of Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) fiction reached the heights of tales forwarded in the history of Chinese fiction. This period of popular stories about urban life were revived; some were ancient tales retold, some new creations. At the end of the Ming Dynasty, two collections of tales were very important. One of them was written by Feng Meng Long (1574-1646) -stories to Enlighting Man Yu Shi Ming Yan( it*.&? Every story has forty chapters, all of them totaled one hunderd twenty chapters. The others were written by, Ling Meng chu (1580-1644). -Amazing Tales first Chu Ke Pai An Jing Qi M^^^İf-^ -Amazing Tales second Er Ke Pai An Jing Qi
