This study comprises three parts.In Part One ,the“traditional II literature of mathematical marxian ecooorriics has been critically evaluated.My aim is to show that as a theory of exploitation (but not as a price theory) the value theory of Marx is meaningful not only with ,the simple Leontief technology but also in presence of joint production and even heterogeneous labours.The inaptitude of the ”received“ solution to the ”transformation II problem to reflect Marx's ideas faithfully is sho\vu altogether. Part Two grapples with concepts and techniqaes that constitute' a“revolutionary break”in marxian economic theory.Game-theoretic and general equilibrium approaches have been yritically surveyed.I have· come to the conclusion that the new approach,which is far from being fidel to Marx, nevertheless represents a remarquable advance over the traditonal mathematical marxism. My study ends with Part Three where I try to defend the“microfoundations methodology”and give support to the argument that game-theoretic framevlOrk is the most appropriate of all for futur research.
