Özet
Günümüzde coğrafya bilimi ve eğitiminde yaşanan en büyük gelişmelerden biri veya en büyüğü şüphesiz coğrafi bilgi sistemleridir (CBS). Kullanım alanının genişliği, her türlü veriyi analiz edebilme gücü ve etkin metodolojisi nedeniyle CBS?nin coğrafya araştırmaları ve eğitiminde kullanımı her geçen gün daha fazla önem kazanmaktadır. Ancak, coğrafya eğitiminde CBS kullanımı ile ilgili mevcut çalışmaların yanında coğrafyanın her alanıyla ilgili daha fazla örneklere ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır. Bu nedenle, yapılabilecek çalışmalardan birisi de coğrafya eğitiminin çeşitli alanlarında CBS kullanımı ile ilgili örnekler ortaya koymak ve bunları deneyerek başarı ve motivasyon gibi katkılarını ortaya koymak olacaktır. Böylece veri üretimi, bunlarla ilgili örnek uygulamalar yapma ve bu uygulamaların öğrencilerin başarısı, motivasyonu ve görüşleri üzerindeki etkisinin incelenmesiyle coğrafya eğitimine büyük katkı sağlanacaktır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, CBS?nin fiziki coğrafya konularının öğretiminde kullanımına örnek uygulamalar sunmak ve öğrencilerin bu uygulamalarla ile ilgili görüşlerini tespit etmektir. Bu amaçla, ortaöğretim coğrafya programı içerisindeki çeşitli fiziki coğrafya konuları ile ilgili veri üretimi yapılarak örnek uygulamalar gerçekleştirilmiş ve coğrafya öğretimindeki etkileri tespit edilmiştir.

Today, no doubt, one or the largest of the most important developments in geography and geography education is Geographical Information Systems (GIS). The use of GIS in geographical research and education becomes more and more important with each passing day due to its wide range of use, power to analyze all kinds of data, and effective methodology. However, today, there is a great need for more examples of using GIS in geography and geography education in addition to existing studies. Therefore, new studies should be done on the use of GIS in various fields of geography education and these examples should be tested in order to reveal the effects of GIS on students? motivation and perceptions. In this case, an important contribution can be provided to geography education. The purpose of this study is to provide sample applications of GIS in physical geography subjects and determine students? perceptions on these applications. For this reason, sample applications were prepared by producing data about some physical geography subjects of secondary school curriculum. These applications were conducted in secondary education and students? perceptions of using GIS in physical geography lectures were determined.
