Özet
Edip Serdengeçti (1896-1958) yazmış olduğu“Mülkiyet Nehcinin Vech-i Tekâmülü”adlı tezini jüri önünde savunarak 1921 yılında“hukuk doktoru”unvanı kazanmıştır. Bu çalışmada, pek tanınmayan bir şahsiyet olan Serdengeçti'nin hayatı, arşiv bilgilerine dayanılarak gün yüzüne çıkarılmaktadır. Serdengeçti'nin iddiası, adı geçen çalışmasının Türkiye'de hukuk alanında yapılan ilk doktora tezi olduğu yönündedir. Yapılan araştırma sonucunda Serdengeçti'den önce, ismi“hukuk doktorası”olan bir çalışma yapıldığı tespit edilmiş olmakla beraber, özellikle doktoraya ilişkin mevzuat incelenerek Edip Serdengeçti'nin tezinin Türkiye'de hukuk alanında yapılan doktora tezi çalışmaları içinde ayrıcalıklı bir yere sahip olduğuna kanaat getirilmiştir. Çalışmada Serdengeçti'nin mülkiyet düşüncesini belirleyen unsurlar ve bu düşüncenin dayanağını oluşturan düşünürler tespit edilerek Serdengeçti'nin mülkiyet düşüncesinin ayrıntıları aydınlatılmaya çalışılmıştır.

Edip Serdengeçti (1896-1958) gained the 'juris doctor' title by defending his thesis before jury on the“Mülkiyet Nehcinin Vech-i Tekâmülü (Evolution of the Property Regime)”in 1921. This study brings into light the life of Serdengeçti, who is a pretty unknown personality, based on the archive information. Serdengeçti claims that his study is the first juris doctor thesis of Turkey. While this study concludes that another study titled as“doctoral thesis of law”has been completed before Serdengeçti's thesis, it has been well recognized through analysis of the legislation on the preparation of doctoral thesis studies, that Serdengeçti's thesis has been a prominent one among the doctoral thesis studies in Turkey. This study elaborates the parts forming Serdengeçti's theory on property and the intellectuals that formed the basis of this theory, as well as examining the details thereof.
