Özet (Çeviri)

MANUFACTURING RESOURCES PLANNING AND THE EVALUATION OF A SOFTWARE PACKAGE SUMMARY Throughout the years, while people were using the com puter in production and inventory management, they attempted to mechanize the existing systems. Thus, some sophistication was added, it was usually the formal system that was mecha nized. It was popular back in the early days of the computer to begin a talk or article on inventory management by addres sing two fundemental questions (It seems even today these questions are valid) : 1- How much? 2- When? Shortly, companies tried to product the right quantity, by using the most efficient methods in the right time. The significance of the computer then, was recognized and the computer itself had become the best useful device in the manufacturing world. The purpose of this study is to provide an introduction to the theory and application of manufacturing resources planningCMRP II). The goals of the MRP II process (roughly) are as fol lows: Before a product order is released a. The calculation of the period in which a product can be handled in most economical way based on a monetary level Vllb. The calculation of the lead time of a product After a product order is released a. How does the product impact on a master schedule? b. The inquiry in the stock-room c. Material order lead time and Vendor production lead time d. Manpower (shifts/ overworks) and machine loading The motto is: PLAN ALL THESE ITEMS IN ORDER TO PREVENT A SQUEEZING! ! i After a useful planning and scheduling a firm can: 1. Achieve full capacity of machines 2. Minimize the overwork 3. Minimize the queue time 4. Obtain of full control over operation starts. development and finishing progress 5. Make a good production without any over-stocking 6. Obtaine computer supported production in all levels 7. Make profit and loss analyzing in a very short time Thus, the first part of the study is about a general reviewing of production control systems. In this part, through cellular manufacturing systems including push, pull and squeeze systems, the approaches related to the operation planning are invastigated. The sub-topics can be summarized like these: The multiple functions and features of produc tion systems, the levels of production planning and its structure. In part II. the concept which forms primerely the focus of this study has been mentioned. It tried to give a short description of MRP II system and its position throughout the other control systems. To make a modification on a physical matter to increase its value on to transfer a raw material or semi-manufactured material into a finished product ready to be used in the view point of engineers is called manufacturing. Conventional vanmanufacturing management systems are insufficient to solve the problems in most cases. But with the help of a computer MRP II can do all the stages with minimum errors, in other words, manufacturing, without any trouble. It can put to gether the material, machine and labor resources at hand of business in a way to provide the manufacturing of requested items. In the direction of the purpose determined above, it is described the main features of MRP II as follows: 1. Production planning 2. Resource planning 3. Marketing forecast 4. Order entry (it is used to plan the priorities effectively) 5. Rough cut capacity planning (machine loading, labor hours) 6. Input/ Output control (for the usage in envantory control ) 7. Shop floor control (using I/O control techniques, it provides the start dates of MPS by putting into effect the priority planning) 8. Purchasing (Vandor lead time are calculated if necessary) 9. Distribution Requirements Planning 10. Last assamble planning (The application staqe of MPS) 11. Financial system (cost calculations of all stages in order to use at later planning forecasts) 12. Typical database (A good.coordination between software and hardware packages) 13. Repetitive (Updating of given data in order to prevend from any squeezing or other various problems. It is done after any operation.) On the other hand, some eminent advantages of MRP is mentioned. Some of them are: a. Planning for the future b. Planning more activities simultaneously c. Coordinating distribution of the firm At last, the MRP results are evaluated according to the determined criteria which had been formed through experiences before. In part III, basic modules of manufacturing resources are explained in a detailed way. First of all, the position of MRP in MRP II system and its functional importance are IXaddressed; in modern businesses, the main aim of production planning and control systems is to find out the optimum solution to provide the consensus among these three targets which contradict each other: 1. To provide maximum service for customer 2. To keep the inventory investment all minimum level 3. To provide productive business operation Hence, material requirements planning and its logic are introduced as a multi-functional system. According to some criteria based on experiences, the hypothesis and prerequisitives that are used in MRP system are handled in detail. Their background are given. Because of all these build-up, the goals of MRP in general, is stated like these: 1. To adjust the planned orders inorder to get them on the requested time 2. To keep the inventory in a minimum level 3. To update the MRP's inputs for indicating the priorities. In part IV, the process rules of a software programme is explained. MFG-PRO, which is considered one of the best softwares in the market, has been formed by various modules which can be also used in seperated modules according to its need. Not every module is needed: the user decides whichever part he should use, and forms an ideal software to manufac ture. The study on this package programme shows how diffi cult the application is. First of all, a sufficient educa tion must be given for all personnel that is going to deal with it. To sum up, -the process sequence can be as follows: a. Education 1. External Education 2. Internal Education 3. On-the-job Training 4. Continual Training b. Application c. Controlling and Evaluation Most of all, the manufacturer who wants to apply this programme must reorganize its administration chain for an effective result. Further on. the basic rules of this package is explained through given charts. Some of them are:a. Work Order b. Shop Floor Control c. Updating d. Formula/Process e. General Ledger f. Cost Simulation In order to get the best utilization out of it, the main sources of this sort of software. Material Planning and Capacity Requirements Planning, must be well-manipulated through putting forth the every detailed data that is used in the plant. XI
