Özet (Çeviri)
This dissertation assesses the security-migration nexus of the EU policies and the Turkey's accession negotiations on the Chapter 24 which comprises the community acquis on ‗Area of Freedom, Security and Justice' (AFSJ). The global migration flows to the North from the South and within the South to a large extent occupy the security agendas of the major powers. Given the current situation of world politics after the colonial age and the emergence of new nation-states which are lack of internal stability, keeping the domestic order means more for the major states than it was before. The EU as the unique supranational institution in the world is interested in keeping secure the EU member states, borders, institutions, community laws and the citizens from any threat by taking some internal and external measures. As a half-century follower of the EU, Turkey is still remaining as a big question mark in the European politics mainly because of its cultural and political background which is quite different from those of the EU on the one hand, and its historical, cultural and geographical neighbourhood with the Balkans, Middle East, North Africa, Central and South Asia, Turkic States and the Muslim states on the other hand. Such a cultural and geographical enlargement of the EU by accepting the Turkey's membership, according to many scholars and politicians, is regarded as very dangerous in terms of the security-migration nexus and can drive the EU in an abolishment process. Although the EU has focused on various concerns during the accession negotiations with other new member states, I have always argued that the EU has more and more focused on the security topics while negotiating with Turkey. As a migrant receiving state, a transit state and neighbouring to both the sending and transit states, Turkey can obtain the EU visa by sharing the common European security rhetoric with the EU on migration and asylum policies, shortly on Chapter 24.
