Özet
Bu çalışmanın konusu; 'Mimarlık'ta Sembolizm'in, mevcut söylem ve yorumlar ekseninde, hermenötik bir yaklaşımla değerlendirilmesidir. Bu minvalde; sosyal ve kültürel hayat, sanat ve din gibi pek çok alanda karşılık bulan 'sembolizm'in mimarlık alanıyla olan irtibatına, özelde kutsal ve mimarinin buluştuğu yapı örneklerindeki sembolizm çıkarımlarına, daha özelde de İslam Mimarisi ve bu mimarinin en kutsal yapısı olan Kâbe'deki sembol ve işaretlere değinilmektedir. Çalışmada, mimarlıkta sembolizm konusunda tevatür şeklinde dolaşan hikâyeleri bilimsel bir mesnede dayandırma iddiasından ziyade, konuya dair yapılmış yorumları ve çalışmaları bir araya derleyerek bu alandaki yeni oluşumlara bir kapı aralayabilmek öngörülmektedir. Tez çalışmasının hedefleri; Mimarlık ve sembolizm ilişkisine dair temel tanımlamaları yapıp, kavramsal yaklaşımları derlemek, Mimarlığın iletişim işlevini yüklenen bir eylem olduğuna vurgu yapmak ve Mimaride sembolizm izlerini örnekler üstünden tahlil etmektir. Böylece sembolizmin mimarideki yansımalarının, özellikle kutsalın mimariyle buluştuğu örneklerdeki güçlü etkisini vurgulamak ve bu etkiyi özel bir alan olan İslam mimarisinde ve devamında da daha özel bir örnek olarak Kâbe üstünde daha detaylı olarak irdelemek hedeflenmiştir. Dünyada pek çok uygulama örneği bulunan 'Mimarlıkta Sembolizm'e dair bilimsel bir çalışma ortaya koyarak literatüre bir katkıda bulunmak ve sonraki yapılacak çalışmalara zemin oluşturabilmek ise çalışmanın esas amacını oluşturur. Çalışmada tümden gelim metodu kullanılmış ve esas konu, genelden özele doğru bir akışla değerlendirilmiştir. Sonuç olarak mimarlıkta sembolizmin; zaman ve mekân sınırı olmaksızın çeşitli kitlelerce ortak bir dil olarak kullanılmakta olduğu, bununla birlikte sembolizmin mimari bir eserin muhataplarının öznel ve değişken yorumlar çıkarmasına da imkân tanıyan zenginleştirici etkileriyle önemli bir unsur olduğu anlaşılmaktadır. Ve böylece mimarlık, içinde barındırdığı sembolizm unsurları ile inanç başta olmak üzere, kültür, sanat, ideoloji, vb. alanlardaki mesajların dışavurumunu temin eden ve diğer temel fonksiyonlarına ilaveten iletişim fonksiyonunu da içeren bir eylem olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır.

The subject of this thesis is the evaluation of symbolism in architecture with a hermeneutic approach and with respect to the current discourse and interpretations. And in this context, it deals with the relationship between symbolism and architecture, which permeates through many fields such as social and cultural life, art and religion and particularly with interpretations of symbolism at examples of buildings where the sacred and architecture meet and especially at Islamic architecture and the symbols and signs at its most sacred building, the Kaaba. This thesis, aims to form a synthesis of works and opinions about the subject rather than trying to find a scientific basis for stories on architectural symbolism which circulate as hearsay. The aims of this thesis are: to make the basic definitions of the relationship between architecture and symbolism, to compile conceptual approaches, to emphasis that architecture is an action that carries a communicative functionality and to track the traces of symbolism in architecture by means of examples. Doing so, to emphasize the powerful effect of the reflections of symbolism especially in cases where the sacred meets architecture and to examine to effect in the special field of Islamic architecture, particularly on the Kaaba, as a special example. The main of this thesis is to produce a scientific work on 'symbolism in architecture, for which there are many explanations in the world and finally to provide a basis for subsequent works. In this thesis, the deduction method has been used and the issue has been dealt with going from the general to the special. As a conclusion, it becomes clear that symbolism in architecture is a language which is being used by the mass without the borders of time and space, and in relation to that, that symbolism with its enriching effects is an important element, which allows the collocutors of a work of architecture to make subjective and variable interpretations. And as a result of that, that Architecture, with the elements of symbolism which it shelters, comes forward as an action which provides the expression of the messages in the fields of, most importantly faith and also of culture, art, ideology etc. And in addition to its other primary functions, also bears a function of communication.
