Özet

Türkiye'de son yıllarda yaşanan hızlı kentleşme sonucu artan konut ihtiyacını karşılamaya yönelik doğal ve yapay çevrenin ihtiyaçları; sosyokültürel alt yapı gözetilmeksizin üretilen modern konutlar, insanları ve kentleri kendi kimliklerinden uzaklaştırırken beraberinde pek çok sosyal ve fiziksel problemi getirmektedir. Geleneksel Türk evinin mimari değerlerinden uzaklaşılmış, Türk aile yapısının ihtiyaçları incelenmeden tek tip seri konut üretimine geçilmiştir. Bu durum çağdaş konutları 'yuva' olma özelliğinden uzaklaştırıp 'barınma' birimlerine dönüştürmüştür. Tezin birinci bölümünde; çalışmanın amacı, yöntemi ve kapsamı açıklanmıştır. İkinci bölümde; mekan, konut ve kültür kavramları ile tezin kavramsal çerçevesi oluşturulmuştur. Bu bölümde kültürün mekanla ve konutla kurduğu ilişkiler irdelenmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde; modernleşme hareketleriyle birlikte Türkiye gündemine giren modern konut mimarisindeki tarihsel gelişim süreci apartman örnekleri üzerinden anlatılmıştır. Erken Cumhuriyet döneminden günümüze kadar geniş bir süreçte konut yapılarında tarihe ve geleneğe yapılan atıflar irdelenmiştir. Dönemler boyunca etkin olan mimari üsluplarda geleneksel izlerin apartman yapılarındaki karşılıkları aranmıştır. Dördüncü bölümde; çalışma alanı olan Kocaeli/İzmit'e yönelik veriler ışığında Demiryolu Caddesi üzerinde Cumhuriyet Döneminden günümüze inşa edilen Apartman yapıları çizimlerle desteklenerek tek tek açıklanmıştır. Her dönemin sonunda dönem içerisinde incelenen apartman yapılarının plan ve cephe özellikleri üzerinden analizler yapılmıştır. Tez çalışmasında, geleneksel dönemden çağdaş döneme kadar uzanan konut mimarisi değişim ve gelişim süreci Kocaeli/İzmit'de Demiryolu Caddesi örneği üzerinden incelenmiş olup; geleneksel konut mimarisinden kalan ve kaybedilen değerler yapılan analiz çalışması ile belirlenmiştir. Tezin bulgular ve değerlendirme kısmında analiz verileri; sonuç ve öneriler kısmında ise yapılan analiz çalışmalarından çıkartılan dönemsel sonuçlar ile geleceğin modern apartman konutları tasarlanırken geleneksel öğelerle yapılacak bir sentezin; mimari tasarım ve sosyal yaşantıya etkisi açıklanmıştır.

In Turkey, the modern housing, which has been produced to meet housing needs increased due to the rapid urbanization recently without paying regard to the requirements of the natural and artificial environment and to sociocultural substructure, lead to loosing identities of the people and the cities, and on the other hand, it also causes many other social and physical problems. The people were alienated from the architectural values of the traditional Turkish House, and a uniform housing was started to produce in series without considering the needs of Turkish Family Structure. This fact has leaded that the contemporary housing was transformed into sheltering units, losing their character to be“home”. In the first section of the thesis, the aim, method and scope of the study were described. In the second section, the concepts such as space, residence and culture were dealt with to form a conceptual frame of the thesis. In this section, the relations established by the culture with space and residence were addressed. In the third section, the historical development process in modern housing architecture which was brought to agenda of Turkey along with modernization movements were described on the basis of the apartment examples. In a broader time course from Early Republic period till today, the references made to the history and the tradition in house construction were addressed. It was endeavoured to seek for equivalence of the traditional traces which became effective in architectural styles for many periods, in the apartments. In the fourth section, in the light of data concerning İzmit/Kocaeli which is the survey field, the apartment houses which were constructed on Demiryolu Street from the Period of Republic until today were described as accompanied by the drawings and tables. In the end of each period, analysis was carried out based on the plan ad façade characteristics of the apartment structures examined during that period. In the thesis study, the development and changing process of the housing architecture starting from the traditional period extending to the contemporary period was examined on the basis of example Demiryolu Street in İzmit/Kocaeli, and the values gained and lost from the traditional housing architecture were determined. With the periodical conclusions drawn through the analysis data in the findings and evaluation part and through the analysis studies carried out in the conclusion and recommendations part of the thesis, the effect of any synthesis made with the traditional elements on the architectural design and social life was explained when designing the future modern apartment houses.
