ABSTRACT INVESTIGATION OF (MOBILE) MILITARY PURPOSE RADIOLINK SYSTEM AND PARABOLOIDAL ANTENNA DESIGN In this project, I tried to explain structure of tropospheric scatter radio link and its peripheral equipments. There are two main subjects to investigate while studying. The first one, to search properties of troposphere, radio link system and its applications. The other one, to design and construct mobile paraboloidal antenna for this system. Reaching to these targets, the following purposes are investigated. 1 principles of microwave propagation system, 2 )Causes of choosing troposphere for communication system in military purposes, 3)Propernes, advantages and disadvantages of troposphere for communication system, 4 )The structure and properties of tropospheric scatter radio link, 5 )Effects of fading, diversity and noise, 6 )Using paraboloidal antennas and their types in military, 7) Mechanical and electromagnetic structure of antenna and its calculation at choosing pilot area where is east and southeast Anatolia, 8) Design of the paraboloidal antenna for mobile system and its construction on a land vehicle. In chapter 1, three sections are investigated. These are microwave propagation technique, tropospheric scatter radiolink system and structure of military communication system. The first section, microwave propagation is introduced then properties and radio wave characteristics are explained. The second section, the structure of tropospheric scatter radio link is investigated and compared with microwave propagation system. The third section is about the investigation of the system for military purposes. The system which is searched, is explained at military communication and its network system is designed with fixed and mobile corporations. In chapter 2, troposphere and tropospheric scatter radiolink are identified and its fflproperties and electrical calculations are searched.The first section, troposphere and its proporties are explained. The second section, tropospheric scatter radio link system is defined and electrical calculation is searched. There are several theories for tropospheric scattering. In chapter 3, the paraboloidal antennas which are used in communication systems and radars with military and civil purposes are designed and their electromagnetic properties are investigated. In chapter 4, using types of antennas are investigated and their electromagnetic and mechanical structure are searched. It is possible to classify reflector antennas according to the geometric form of the surface. Chapter 5 includes the system applications at choosing pilot area where is suitable for military applications. This chapter also contains the calculation of troposphere parameters for high and low power radio links and antenna characterises according to chapter 2 and 3. At last, computations are done for the construction of the reflector which is used on the paraboloidal antenna. Calculations, programs and constructions are presented from Appendix A to Appendix D.
