different functional forms for different expenditure ca tegories. In this study we preferred to calculate the elasti city figures at three different income levels. We divi ded the IS expenditure groups into three subsets each containing six groups and used the approximate median levels as representative of each subset. The third, the tenth and sixteenth expenditure levels were chosen to represent the lower, middle anf upper income groups res pectively. For many expenditure categories we report more than one equation, because they wsr& quite good with respect- to all of the selection criteria. It is i 21 teres ting to note that for most of the expenditure categories at least- one functional form was applicable for &v&ry region. For 11 expenditure categories this form was the 5th one C double-logarithm^. For food, clothing, furniture, house services, cultural and other expenditure it was the 8th CWorking-LeserZ? form as well as for all regions. These two forms dominate the scene, in fact they constitute £^3 of the 143 reported equations. The linear form ClstD re ported sixteen times, was common for S regions expendi ture of clothing, health and personal care. The 9th form was selected 36 times, and Snd form for nine times. Food is definitely a necessity for all of the regions. It shows a low income elasticity for every income level and each region. Restaurant, expenditure seem to be neither a necessity nor a luxury for

Özet (Çeviri)

Housing expenditure elasticities show a low income elasticity. Except East and Southeast, housing is on the necessary side for every region. It seems to be neither a necessity nor a luxury for East and Southeast Anatolia. -xi-different functional forms for different expenditure ca tegories.
