Özet
ÖZET Ortaokul Öğrencilerinin Güneşten Korunma İle İlgili Bilgi Ve Davranışları Amaç: Araştırmanın amacı, Erzurum'daki ortaokul öğrencilerinin güneşten korunma ile ilgili bilgi ve davranışlarını belirlemektir. Materyal ve Metot: Bu araştırma Erzurum ilinde bulunan üç ayrı ortaokulun öğrencileri ile yürütülmüştür. Verilerin toplanmasında; öğrencilerin kişisel bilgilerini ve güneşten korunma ile ilgili bilgi ve davranışlarını değerlendiren soruların yer aldığı iki bölümden oluşan bir form kullanılmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde; yüzdelik dağılımlar, ortalamalar, ki kare, t testi, Kruskal Wallis ve Mann-Whitney U testi kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Araştırmaya 139 kız, 112 erkek olmak üzere toplam 251 öğrenci katılmıştır. Ankete verilen cevaplar doğrultusunda öğrencilerin güneşten korunma bilgi ve davranışları incelenmiş; öğrencilerin bilgi puan ortalaması 7.78±2.88 olarak bulunmuş ve temel bilgisi var şeklinde değerlendirilmiştir. Anne/baba eğitim seviyesi ve ailenin gelir düzeyi arttıkça güneşten korunma bilgi puan ortalamasının da arttığı saptanmıştır (p˂0.05). Öğrencilerin güneşten korunma davranışları yetersiz bulunmuş, yaz ve kış mevsiminde güneş koruyucu krem kullanımının en az oranda (%21.1) olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Özellikle kış güneşinin zararları hakkında yeterli bilincin oluşmadığı, çalışmaya katılan öğrencilerin hemen hemen yarısının kış mevsiminde güneş ışınlarının faydalı olduğunu (%49.4) düşündüğü görülmüştür. Sonuç: Öğrencilerin güneş ışınlarının zararlı etkileri ve korunma yöntemleri ile ilgili yeterli bilgiye sahip oldukları ancak uygulamaları konusunda yetersiz oldukları saptanmıştır. Öğrencilerin özellikle bilgiyi davranışa dönüştürmede desteğe ve kış güneşinin zararları konusunda eğitime ihtiyaçlarının olduğu düşünülmektedir.

ABSTRACT Knowledge and Behaviors of Secondary School Students on Sun Protection Aim: The study aims to determine the knowledge and behavior of the secondary school children in the province of Erzurum, on sun protection. Material and Method: This study was conducted with students from three different middle school in the province of Erzurum. The data were collected by a form containing questions about personal information and knowledge and behaviors on sun protection. In the evaluation of the data, percentage distributions, averages, chi square, t test, Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U test were used. Results: A total of 251 students, 139 female and 112 male, participated in the research. According to the answers given to the questionnaire, the knowledge and behaviors of the students about sun protection were investigated; and average knowledge score of the students was found to be 7.78±2.88, indicating a basic knowledge. The sun protection knowledge score was found to increase as the level of parental education and income level of the family increases (p<0.05). Sun protection behaviors of students were found to be inadequate and it was concluded that the use of sunscreen cream in summer and winter was minimal (21.1%). It was observed that there was a lack of awareness about the dangers of sun especially in the winter, and that almost half of the students (49.4%) included in the study thought that sun rays are favorable in the winter. Conclusion: Although the students had adequate knowledge about the harmful effects of sunlight and the methods of sun protection, they were found to be lacking in practice. In particular, it is believed that there is a need for education on the damage of the winter sun and the need for support in transforming the knowledge into behavior.
