Özet
Bu çalışma, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Kilis Elbeyli Mülteci Kampı'nda yaşayan Suriyeli“misafir”lerin, evlerini kaybettikten sonra yerleştikleri konteynerlerde“ev”i kurma hikayeleridir. Kamp Türkiye'nin Güney Doğu Anadolu bölgesinde, Suriye sınırına 5 km uzaklıktadır. 3600 konteynerden oluşan kampta 2017 yılı itibariyle 20,000 Suriyeli yaşamaktadır. Kampın beşinci yılında verili standart konteynerler,“ev”lere dönüşmektedir. Araştırma konteyner evlerde yaşayan Suriyelilerin, hem fiziksel hem de zihinsel olarak,“ev”i yeniden inşa süreçlerinin, mekansal ve kültürel bir konu olarak“mültecinin ev”inin anlaşılmasını hedeflemektedir. Tez kapsamında evini kaybeden insanlar için evin ne anlama geldiği, evden uzakta yeniden“ev”kurma kararı verdikleri verili standart konteynerlerde evin ve olası imkan ve anlamlarının geçirdiği dönüşümler incelenmektedir. Fiziksel mekanda gözlemlenen tekrarlayan dönüşümler, programatik, yapı performansına yönelik ve kültürel dönüşümler altında değerlendirilmektedir. Tezin sonuçları itibarıyla, konteyner evlerin dönüşümünde, evin kurulumuna işaret eden genel ve Suriyeli mültecilere özgü kültürel göstergeler, geliştirilebilir bir konteyner tasarımı için kılavuz niteliğini taşıyacak öneriler olarak değerlendirilmektedir.

This research is the story of remaking of home by Syrian refugees after their experience of displacement, loss of home and resettlement. Kilis Elbeyli Refugee Camp is located at South-Eastern Anatolia, Turkey Republic, close to the Syrian border. The camp is composed of 3600 container houses and with more than 20,000 refugees living by 2017. Stepping into its fifth year of establishment, the temporariness of the camp is now questionable and the standard container houses had started to evolve into homes. The processes of constructing a place and remaking of home is both construct of a mind and material. Through a site visit and interviews that had been carried out in the camp material and immaterial evidences of this possibility of rebuilding home that has been lost has been sought for. Through the study of changes, variations and interventions in the spatial configurations of the container houses and of re-established and restored meanings of what home is, this research aims, to understand the process of remaking of the home by Syrian refugees both in theoretical and practical context. The results of the observations of the transformation of container houses are evaluated in terms of programmatic, environmental and cultural performances in order to understand certain general recurring topics. Those indications of home making within the context of both general and specific to Syrian culture are evaluated as a guide for developable future camp design.
