Özet
Bu araştırmada, ortaokul 7. sınıf öğrenci kompozisyonlarının okunabilirlik düzeylerinin geliştirilmesinde özü bulma becerisinin etkisi tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Araştırmada, ön test-son test kontrol gruplu deneysel model kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, 2016-2017 eğitim-öğretim yılında Muğla ili Fethiye ilçesinde bulunan Özel HATEM Ortaokulunda öğrenim gören yedinci sınıf öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmaya deney grubunda 13, kontrol grubunda 13 öğrenci olmak üzere toplam 26 öğrenci katılmıştır. Deney grubunda 8 kız, 5 erkek; kontrol grubunda 7 kız, 6 erkek öğrenci bulunmaktadır. Gruplar seçkisiz atamayla oluşturulmuştur. Çalışmanın uygulama basamağında, deney grubu öğrencilerine 8 hafta süreyle özü bulma eğitimi verilmiş, ilköğretim 7. sınıf Türkçe ders kitabındaki metinler üzerinde özü bulma becerisini geliştirme basamakları uygulatılmıştır. Kontrol grubunda ise, 7. sınıf Türkçe ders kitabındaki metinler, mevcut programa uygun bir şekilde işlenmiştir. Özü bulma eğitimi öncesinde ve sonrasında, ön test ve son test olmak üzere öğrencilere kompozisyon yazdırılmıştır. Yazılan kompozisyonlar okunabilirlik açısından incelenmiş, verilerin çözümlenmesinde, Çetinkaya ve Uzun tarafından geliştirilen“Okunabilirlik Formülü”ve Ateşman'ın Türkçeye Uyarladığı“Okunabilirlik Formülü”kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, özü bulma eğitimi verilen deney grubu öğrencileri tarafından yazılan kompozisyonların okunabilirlik düzeylerinde anlamlı bir artışın olduğu görülmüştür. Kontrol grubunda ise, mevcut programa uygun bir şekilde işlenen derslere katılan öğrencilerin çoğunun kompozisyonlarında, okunabilirlik düzeyi açısından gelişme görülmemiştir. Bu sonuç, öğrenci kompozisyonlarının okunabilirlik düzeylerinin geliştirilmesinde özü bulma becerisinin etkili olduğu şeklinde yorumlanmıştır. Buradan hareketle, öğrencilere özü bulma becerisi kazandırabilmek için Türkçe dersleri mutlaka anlama ve üretmeye dayalı olarak işlenmelidir.

This study tries to determine the effect of finding the essence of the topic upon the improvement of readibility level of a composition for 7th grade students. In the study, experimental model with pre-test-past-test control group was used. The working group of the research is the 7th grade students from Hatem Secondary School in Fethiye district, in the province of Muğla in the academic year of 2016- 2017. A total of 26 students, 13 in the study group and 13 in the control group participated in this piece of work. In the experimental group 8 girls and 5 boys were involved whereas there were 7 girls and 6 boys in the control group. The groups were selected randomly. During the practice steps, the students in the experimental group were trained intensely about how to find the main esence of the topic for eight weeks and the students were made to apply the steps of their newly developed skills on the texts in their Turkish course book. In the control group, the texts in the 7th grade Turkish course book were processed according to the current program. Before and after the course of devoloping skills in finding the essence of a topic, the students were asked to write compositions as pre-test-past-test. During the process of analysing the students compositions, in terms of readibility,“Readibility Formula”; that was developed by Uzun and Çetinkaya, was applied as well as Ateşman's“Readibility Formula”which was adapted to Turkish. As a result of the research, a considerable increase was observed in the compositions of the study group students, who were trained in developing their skills in finding the essence of a topic in terms of readibilty level. In the contrary no improvement was abserved in the level of readibility in the majority of the students in the control group who were trained with the present program. That result was interpreted as "the ability to find the essence is highly effective in developing the readibility levels. In conclusion, in order to maket he students gain the ability of finding the essence, teachers should focus on understanding the topic and producing ideas.
