Özet
PCR METODU İLE ASEPTİK MENENJITLI ÇOCUKLARDA HSV TİP 1 VE HSV TİP 2'NİN İNSİDANSLARININ TESPİTİ ÖZET Viruslar aseptik menenjitlerin en sık karşılaşılan etkenidir. Özellikle enteroviruslarla oluşan menenjitler ve HSV'un sebep olduğu herpes menenjitleri pediatrik popülasyonda benign seyirli aseptik menenjitlerin önemli bir bölümünü oluşturur. Biz bölgemizde çocuklarda görülen aseptik menenjitlerde herpes menenjitleri ile etyolojiden sorumlu HSV tip 1 ve HSV tip 2'nin insidansını tespit amacıyla 21 hastanın BOS örneklerini PCR metodu ile değerlendirdik. BOS örneklerinin 3'ü kız, 1'i erkek hastaya ait olmak üzere 4 (%19)'ünde HSV DNA'sını tespit ettik. HSV DNA'sı pozitif örneklerde spesifik problar kullanarak yaptığımız hibridizasyon testi sonunda 3 (%75) izolatın HSV tip 2, 1 (%25) izolatın da HSV tip 1'e ait olduğunu tespit ettik. Sonuç olarak bölgemizde HSV menenjitlerinin pediatrik popülasyonda oldukça yüksek oranda görüldüğünü ve PCR'nun tip identifikasyonunda hızlı, sensitif ve spesifik bir metod olduğunu tespit ettik.

THE DETECTION OF INCIDENCE OF HSV TYPE I AND HSV TYPE 2 BY PCR METHOD IN CHILDREN WITH ASEPTIC MENINGITIS SUMMARY Viruses are the most common identified cause of aseptic meningitis. Especially, enteroviral meningitis and HSV meningitis account for the majority of cases of aseptic meningitis in the pediatric population. In order to determine the incidence of HSV type 1 and HSV type 2 in children with aseptic meningitis in our region, we analyzed cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples from 21 patients by PCR method. We detected HSV DNA in 4 (19%) CSF samples of which 3 were from female and 1 was from male. We observed that 3 (75%) isolates of HSV DNA positive samples were HSV type 2 and 1 (25%) isolate was HSV type 1 by dot-blot hybridization test performed with specific probes. Our results showed that HSV meningitis in the pediatric population had a relatively higher incidence in our region and PCR test was rapid, sensitive and specific method in type identification.
