Özet

Günümüzde İngilizce öğrenmek kaçınılmaz bir hal almıştır. Bu durumun bir sonucu olarak İngilizce öğretme ve öğrenmeyi kolaylaştıracak yöntemler de gelişip değişmektedir. Teknoloji çağında olduğumuz göz önünde bulundurulduğu zaman bu gelişim ve değişimlerin de teknolojiye ayak uydurmak zorunda olması kaçınılmazdır. Dolayısıyla İngilizce öğretmenlerinin de bu gelişmelere uyum sağlamaları gerekmektedir. Ancak bilişim teknolojilerini (BT) kullanma konusunda İngilizce öğretmenleri farklı bakış açılarına sahiptirler. Bu araştırma İngilizce öğretmenlerinin eğitim ve öğretimde bilişim teknolojilerini kullanma konusundaki hazır bulunuşluk, algı, tutum ve mevcut duruma ilişkin görüşlerini inceleyerek varsa sorunları tespit edip çözümler sunulması amacıyla yapılmıştır. Bu araştırmanın çalışma evrenini, 2017/2018 eğitim öğretim yılının 2. Döneminde Kayseri'deki 20 İngilizce öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Derinlemesine araştırma yapabilmek için amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden biri olan 'benzeşik örnekleme' ile araştırmanın çalışma grubu belirlenmiştir. Araştırmada öğretmenlere araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanmış olan 11 sorudan oluşan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu uygulanmıştır. Görüşme formu hazırlandıktan sonra Bilişim Teknolojileri, İngilizce ve Türkçe uzman görüşüne sunularak kapsam geçerliği sağlanmıştır. Ardından 2 İngilizce öğretmenine uygulanarak görüşme formunun araştırma için uygun olduğu düşünülerek tamamlanmıştır. Nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılan bu araştırmada betimsel içerik analiz yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgulara göre İngilizce öğretmenleri bilişim teknolojilerini kullanma konusunda olumlu tutum göstermiştir. Ancak buna rağmen öğretmenler bazı problemlerden bahsederek olumsuz tutum sergilemiştir. Olumsuz tutumların değişimi ve problemlerin giderilebilmesi için hizmetiçi eğitimlerin verilmesi gerektiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

Learning English has become inevitable today. As a result of this situation, methods to facilitate teaching and learning in English are also evolving. Considering that we are in the age of technology, it is inevitable that these developments and changes have to keep up with technology. Therefore, English teachers also need to adapt to these developments. However, English teachers have different perspectives on using information technologies (IT). This research was carried out aiming to examine the readiness, perception, attitude and views on the current situation of English teachers about using the information technologies in the course of education and thus aiming to identify the problems if existing and offer solutions. The universe of the research constitutes the 20 English teachers in Kayseri province in the second term of 2017-2018 academic year. The working group of the study was determined by 'homogeneous sampling' which is one of the purposeful sampling methods in order to conduct in-depth research. The semi-structured interview form consisting of 11 questions prepared by the researcher was conducted to the teachers in the survey. After the interview form was prepared by the researcher the scope validity was provided by the Information Technologies, English and Turkish experts. Then by applying to 2 English teachers the interview form was completed with the idea of being suitable for the research. Content analysis was used in this qualitative study. According to the findings from the research, English teachers showed a positive attitude towards using information technologies. However, the teachers showed negative attitude mentioning some problems. It was concluded that in-service training should be given to change the negative attitudes and to eliminate the problems.
