Özet
Geçtiğimiz yüzyılın ikinci yarısında bilim insanları ve düşünürler neredeyse tüm bilimlerde çok hızlı cereyan gelişmelere tanıklık etmiştir. Bilimlerin gelişiminde yaşanan bu keskin ve ani dönüşümler bir bütün olarak onun hem tarihine hem de yöntemine yönelik çalışmaları hızlandırmıştır. Bu kavrayışın en özgün isimlerinden biri olan Thomas Kuhn bilimlerin devrimci bir ilerleyişe sahip olduğuna yönelik etkili bir izlence ortaya koymuştur. Elinizdeki çalışma başta paradigma olmak üzere, Kuhn'un diğer tüm kavramları ile matematik tarihinde önemli yer tutan kuramlar üzerinden bir soruşturma yapmayı amaçlamaktadır. Üç bölümden oluşan bu tezin ilk kısmında Kuhn'un bilimsel gelişme üzerine söyledikleri geniş bir şekilde ele alınmış ve eksikliği görülen yerlerde eleştiriler yapılmıştır. Tezin ilk kısmı böylelikle Kuhn özelinde bilim felsefesi değerlendirmesi olmuş ve ikinci bölümdeki tartışmaya kavramsal bir bütünlük kazandırmıştır. İkinci bölümde matematik tarihinden seçtiğimiz iki kuramı, Kuhn'un kavramları ile tarihsel bir okumaya tabi tutmuş ve nihayetinde kuramlar özelinde bir değerlendirme yapılmaya çalışılmıştır. Burada özellikle Euclides ve onun alternatifleri olarak gelişen Euclides-dışı geometriler ile Batlamyus ve onun alternatifi olarak gelişen Copernicus kuramları arasındaki yakın ilişkilere odaklanılmıştır. Üçüncü ve son bölümde ise matematiğin son iki yüz yılında yaşanan gelişmeler ve onun doğası, sağlamlığı ve bilimselliği üzerine alan içinde yaşanılan tartışmalar incelenmiştir. Burada geometri bağlamında bir gelişim modeli de verilmeye özen gösterilmiştir. Böylelikle tezin bu bölümü hem bilim felsefesine hem de matematik felsefesine bir katkı yapmayı amaçlamıştır.

The second half of the last century, scientists and thinkers have witnessed very rapid developments in almost all sciences. These sharp and sudden transformations in the development of sciences accelerated the studies on both its history and method as a whole. Thomas Kuhn, who is one of the most original names of this development, has put forward an effective discourse on the sciences having a revolutionary advance. The present study aims at conducting an investigation, primarily of the paradigm concept, with all other concepts of Kuhn and the theories that have an important place in the history of mathematics. In the first part of this thesis, which is composed of three parts, Kuhn's comments on scientific development have been discussed in a broad manner and criticisms have been made in the places where there are deficiencies. Thus, the first part of the thesis evaluates Kuhn's philosophy of science, which gives the conceptual integrity of the discussion in the second chapter. In the second chapter, the two theories we have chosen from the history of mathematics have been subjected to a historical reading with the concepts of Kuhn and eventually an evaluation has been made in terms of theories. The focus here is on the close relationship between Euclides and its alternate non-Euclidean geometries and the Copernicus theories developed as Ptolemy and its alternative. In the third and last chapter, the developments in the last two hundred years of mathematics and the discussions on the nature, soundness and scientificness of the field are examined. A development model has been given here in the context of geometry. Thus, this part of the thesis aims to make a contribution to both philosophy of science and philosophy of mathematics.
