Özet

Değerler eğitimi hem son yılların popüler bilimsel çalışma alanı olması sebebiyle güncel hem de toplum yapısını olumlu veya olumsuz yönde etkileyebilecek gücü içinde barındırmasıyla önemli bir konudur. Yapılan ulusal çalışmaların genellikle betimsel özellikte olması, değerler eğitimi ile ilgili derinlemesine yapılacak bir araştırma ihtiyacını ortaya koymuştur. Buradan hareketle, bu çalışmada sosyal bilgiler öğretmenleri için uygulanabilir ve anlaşılabilir bir model önerisi geliştirmek amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda çeşitli disiplinlerin (felsefe, psikoloji, sosyoloji) değerler eğitimine ilişkin bakış açısı değerlendirilmiş, toplumun tarihi ve kültürel yapısı dikkate alınmış, mevcut değerler eğitimi yaklaşımları irdelenmiş ve sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin uygulamaları derin bir analize tabi tutulmuştur. Durum çalışması deseniyle tasarlanan çalışma, iki kısımdan oluşmaktadır. İlk kısımda 154 sosyal bilgiler öğretmeninden elde edilen verilerle ihtiyaç ortaya çıkarılmış; ikinci kısımda ise iki öğretmen ile derinlemesine çalışılarak model önerisi geliştirilmiştir. İhtiyaç analizinde açık uçlu soru formundan; model geliştirme aşamasında ise gözlem, görüşme ve günlük inceleme tekniklerinden yararlanılmıştır. Veriler sürekli karşılaştırmalı analiz ile çözümlenmiştir. Çalışma sonuçlarına bakıldığında, ihtiyaç analizi neticesinde yaşanan temel sorunlar içerisinden çözüme kavuşturulabilecek alan ortaya çıkarılarak ana problem durumu belirlenmiştir. İki sosyal bilgiler öğretmeninden elde edilen sonuçlara göre ise sürece dayalı bir model önerisi geliştirilmiştir. Söz konusu model önerisi, kazandırılacak değeri belirleme, uygulama ve değerlendirme aşamalarından oluşmaktadır. Model önerisi, öğrenciye kendi değerinin farkına varma fırsatı veren ama aynı zamanda öğretmenlere müdahale alanı oluşturan bir felsefeyi benimsemektedir. Model önerisi, öğrencilerin kazandığı değeri yaşantıya çevirmesine imkân verecek ortamlar oluşturulmasını ve böylelikle pekiştirilmesini önemsemektedir. Geleneksel ve modern değerler eğitimi yaklaşımlarının birleşimi olarak kabul edilebilecek bu model önerisinin her aşamasında öğretmenlerin dikkat etmesi gereken kriterler yer almaktadır. Değer içselleştirme adı verilen bu model önerisi, değerlerin neden kazanılması gerektiği konusunda öğrenciyi ikna etmeyi, değerleri öğrenciye benimsetmeyi, bu değerleri öğrencinin davranışına yansıtmasına imkân oluşturarak ve öğrencinin olumlu davranışını pekiştirerek değerin kalıcılığını sağlamayı amaçlayan bir model olarak tanımlanabilir.

Values education is an issue both current for it is popular scientific study field in last years and also important for it contain in itself force which could affect positive or negative social structure. The fact that the national studies fulfilled by now are generally descriptive has revealed the need for in-depth research on values education. Thus, in this study, it was aimed to develop a practical and understandable model for social studies teachers. In line with this purpose, the perspective of various disciplines (philosophy, psychology, sociology) on the values education was evaluated, the historical and cultural structure of the society was taken into consideration, current values education approaches were examined and the practices of social studies teachers were subjected to a deep analysis. The study designed with case study consists of two parts. In the first part, the need was found out with the data obtained from 154 social studies teachers; in the second part, a model proposal was developed by working deeply with two teachers. From the open-ended questionnaire in the need's analysis; in the model development stage, observation, interview and daily examination techniques were used. Data were analysed by comparative analysis continuously. When the results of the study were examined, the main problem situation was determined by revealing the area that can be solved from the basic problems experienced as a result of the needs analysis. According to the results obtained from two social studies teachers, a process-based model proposal was developed. The model proposal consists of the determination of the value to be gained, implementation and evaluation stages. The model proposal adopts a philosophy that gives the student an opportunity to realize their own value, but also creates an intervention area for teachers. The model proposal care to creating environments that will enable students to translate the value they gain into life and thus reinforce of their values. This model proposal, which can be considered as a combination of the positive aspects of traditional and modern values education approaches, includes the criteria that teachers should be aware of at every stage. This model proposal, called value internalization, can be defined as a model that aims to persuade the student about why values must be acquired, to adopt values to the student, to reflect these values to the student's behaviour, and to provide the permanence of the value by reinforcing the positive behaviour of the student.
