Özet
Adramytteion kenti khorasında yer alan Dedekaya, günümüzde Balıkesir ili Burhaniye ilçesi sınırlarında, Bahadınlı ve Karadere mahalleleri arasında Karıncaderesi'nin bir kolu üzerindeki vadiye hâkim bir noktada konumlanmaktadır. Yerleşim, üst kottaki tahkimata dair mimari izlerin tespit edildiği iki ana kaya öbeği ile bunların vadiye bakan doğu, güney ve güneybatı yamaçlarındaki yerleşimden oluşmaktadır. Alan çevresinde, yoğunluğu kuzey - kuzeybatı tarafta olmak üzere, Geç Klasik-Hellenistik Dönem'den Bizans Dönemi sonuna kadar tarihlenir nitelikte keramik buluntular tespit edilmiştir. Bulunduğu konum itibariyle Thebe Ovası'na (Edremit Düzlüğü) açılan vadinin savunması için önemli bir noktada konumlanan Dedekaya Yerleşimi, aynı zamanda bölgede yer alan benzeri yerleşimlerele birlikte bölge savunma ağının da bir parçasıdır. 2015-2018 yılları arasında sürdürülen çalışmalarda alanın rölövesi çıkartılmış, coğrafi bilgi sistemleri kullanılarak yapısal özellikleri tespit edilmiş, ele geçen küçük buluntular belgelenmiş ve sistemli belgelemesi ilk kez yapılan yerleşim bu çalışmalar vasıtasıyla yorumlanmıştır. Bu çalışma, alanda tespit edilen yerleşimin yapısal özelliklerini açıklamakla birlikte, yerleşimin bölge savunmasındaki yerini, çevresindeki benzer savunma yapılarıyla olan ilişkisi ve Adramytteion khorasının savunmasına dair genel tespitler sunmaktadır. Ayrıca yereleşimin değişen sosyal ve siyasal süreç içerisinde Roma ve Bizans Dönemi'ndeki kullanımına dair fikirler tartışılmaya çalışılmıştır.

Dedekaya Settlement, situated within the chora of Adramytteion, is currently located within the borders of Burhaniye district in Balikesir province (Mysia) and in a position overlooking the valley which is located on one of the reaches of Karıncadere Stream between Bahadınlı and Karadere neighborhoods. The settlement consists of two bedrock boulders and the eastern, southern, southwestern hills of these, looking towards the valley, where the architectural traces of the fortification walls were identified. Pottery finds dated from the Late Classical-Hellenistic Period to the end of the Byzantine Period have been detected in these areas and in their vicinity, mostly in the north-northwest direction. Located in an important position for the defense of Thebe plain, Dedekaya Settlement also takes part in the defense network structure of the entire region when its probable relation to other defense structures in the region is considered. With the studies carried out between 2015 and 2018, small finds found in the fortification were examined; three dimensional models were created by making measurements and drawings of the area and some implications regarding the function of the site as well as its structural features were reached by using geographic information systems. This study analyzes the role of the site in the meaning of the territorial defense, its relation to similar settlements in the vicinity and the defense of Adramytteion chora in the broadest sense as well as presenting the structural features of the settlement found in the area. The study further discusses the use of the aforementioned settlement during the transformation of the social and political processes in the Roman and Byzantine periods.
