Özet
Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, ilkokulda karakter eğitimine ilişkin sınıf öğretmenleri ve veli görüşlerini çeşitli değişkenler açısından incelemektir. Yöntem: Araştırmada karma yöntem kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın nicel boyutunda tarama modeli, nitel boyutunda ise fenomonoloji kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın evrenini Gaziantep ili merkez ilçelerinde 2018-2019 eğitim öğretim yılında görev yapan sınıf öğretmenleri ve ilkokul çağında çocuğu olan öğrenci velileri oluşturmaktadır. Örneklemini ise 604 sınıf öğretmeni ve 630 veli oluşturmaktadır. Nitel çalışma grubunu ise 38 sınıf öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Veriler araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen karakter eğitimi öğretmen ve veli ölçekleriyle toplanmıştır. Nitel veriler araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formuyla toplanmıştır. Araştırmanın nicel verileri SPSS 24 paket programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Nitel verilerde ise betimsel analiz yapılmıştır. Bulgular: Karakter eğitimi öğretmen ölçeği“planlama ve uygulama”ve“yeterlilik ve etkililik”boyutunda cinsiyet ve görev yerine göre anlamlı farklılık görülmezken mesleki kıdem ve eğitim durumunda anlamlı farklılık görülmüştür.“Yöntem-teknik ve değerlendirme”boyutunda ise cinsiyet, mesleki kıdem ve görev yerine göre anlamlı farklılık bulunmazken, eğitim durumuna göre anlamlı farklılık bulunmuştur. Karakter eğitimi veli ölçeği“okul-aile işbirliği”boyutunda cinsiyet ve yaşa göre anlamlı farklılık bulunmazken; eğitim durumu, yaşadığı yer, sosyoekonomik durum ve çocuk sayısına göre anlamlı farklılık bulunmuştur.“Yeterlilik ve etkililik”boyutunda cinsiyet, yaş, yaşadığı yer, sosyoekonomik durum ve çocuk sayısına göre anlamlı farklılık bulunmazken; eğitim durumuna göre anlamlı farklılık bulunmuştur.“Sosyal çevre”boyutunda cinsiyet, yaş, yaşadığı yer ve sosyoekonomik duruma göre ve anlamlı farklılık bulunmazken; eğitim durumu ve çocuk sayısına göre anlamlı farklılık bulunmuştur. Sonuç: Araştırma sonuçlarında, ilkokullarda karakter eğitiminin yetersiz olduğu, karakter eğitiminde sorunların büyük oranda aileden kaynaklandığı ve okul-aile işbirliğinin önemli olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to examine teachers and parents' views about character education in elementary school in terms of various variables. Method: Mixed method has been used during the study. The screening model has been used in the quantitative dimension of the research, and also the phenomenological model has been used in the qualitative dimension. The population of the study consists of classroom teachers who work in the central districts of Gaziantep province in the 2018-2019 academic year and parents of primary school students. The sample consists of 604 classroom teachers from 28 schools in the central districts of Gaziantep and 630 parents who have children studying in these schools. The qualitative study group consists of 38 classroom teachers. The data have been collected with the character education teacher and parent scales developed by the researcher. In the study, the qualitative data have been collected by semi-structured interview form prepared by the researcher and the quantitative data of the study have been analyzed with SPSS 24 package program. For qualitative data, descriptive analysis has been performed. Findings: While there is no significant difference in“planning and implementation”and“competence and effectiveness”dimensions of character education teacher scale according to gender and duty place, there is a significant difference in professional seniority and education status. In the“method-technique and assessment”dimension, while there is no significant difference according to gender, professional seniority and place of duty, there is a significant difference according to education status. While there is no significant difference in“school-family cooperation”dimension of the character education parent scale according to gender and age; There are significant differences according to educational background, place of residence, socioeconomic status and number of children. There is no significant difference in“adequacy and effectiveness”according to gender, age, place of residence, socioeconomic status and number of children; a significant difference has been found according to education level. There are no significant differences in“social environment”according to gender, age, place of residence and socioeconomic status; there is a significant difference according to educational status and number of children. Result: According to the results of the study, it has been found that character education in primary schools is inadequate, problems in character education are mostly caused by family, school-family cooperation is important.
