Özet

Amaç: Bu araştırmanın amacı, eğitsel oyunlar aracılığyla kelime öğretimi etkinliklerinin beşinci sınıf öğrencilerinin anlama becerilerine etkisinin incelenmesidir. Yöntem: Araştırma gelişmiş karma yöntem desenlerinden müdahale deseninde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2018-2019 öğretim yılında merkez Yakutiye ilçesindeki iki ortaokulda öğrenim gören 86 beşinci sınıf öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada 4 grup yer almıştır. Bunlardan ikisi deney, ikisi de kontrol grubu olarak atanmıştır. Birinci uygulama okulundaki gruplara Deney1 ve Kontrol1, ikinci uygulama okulundaki gruplara ise Deney2 ve Kontrol2 grubu adı verilmiştir. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak“Birinci Başarı Testi”,“İkinci Başarı Testi”ve“Öğrenci Görüşme Formu”kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler SPSS programında çözümlenmiştir. Bulgular: Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgulara göre uygulama öncesinde gruplar arasında anlama becerileri başarı puanı açısından anlamlı bir fark görülememiştir. Bu da uygulama öncesinde grupların benzer özelliklere sahip olduğunu göstermektedir. Araştırma tamamlandıktan sonra Deney1 ve Deney2 gruplarına ait ön ve son test ortalama başarı puanları arasında son test lehine anlamlı fark bulunurken Kontrol1 ve Kontrok2 gruplarına ait ön ve son test ortalama başarı puanları arasında fark bulunamamıştır. Yine Deney1 ve Kontrol1 grupları ile Deney2 ve Kontrol2 gruplarına ait son test ortalama başarı puanları karşılşatırılmış, elde edilen bulgulara göre deney grupları lehine anlamlı farkın olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Deney grubu öğrencileriyle yapılan görüşmede öğrencilerin eğitsel oyunların Türkçe dersinde etkili olduğunu düşündükleri, bu düşüncenin oluşmasında ise eğitsel oyunların eğlenerek öğrenme, iş birlikli çalışma ve yardımlaşma, aktif katılım, kolay ve kalıcı öğrenme gibi öğretim sürecini hareketlendiren özelliklerinin etkili olduğu anlaşılmıştır. Sonuç: Çalışmanın sonucuna göre eğitsel oyunlar aracılığıyla kelime öğretimi etkinliklerinin beşinci sınıf öğrencilerinin anlama becerilerini geliştirmede etkili olduğu belirlenmiştir.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of teaching vocabulary through educational games on understanding skills of fifth-grade students. Method: This research was carried out by the intervention design, one of the advanced mixed methods. The study group consisted of 86 fifth grade students studying in two secondary schools in the central Yakutiye district in the 2018-2019 academic year. Four groups were included in the study. Two of them were assigned to the experiment and two to the control group. The groups in the first school were named as Experiment1 and Control1, and the groups in the second school were called the Experiment2 and Control2 groups. Achievement Test 1, Achievement Test 2 and Student Interview Form were used as data collection tools. The data obtained were analyzed in SPSS program. Findings: According to the findings obtained from the study, there was no significant difference between the groups in terms of understanding skills achievement score. This shows that the groups have similar characteristics before the application. After the completion of the study, there was a significant difference between the pre and post-test average achievement points of Experiment 1 and Experiment 2 groups in favor of the last test, while there was no difference between the pre and post-test average achievement scores of Control1 and Control2 groups. Final test scores of Experiment1 and Control1 groups and Experimental2 and Control2 groups were compared, according to the findings, a significant difference was found in favor of experimental groups. At the interview with the experimental group students, it was understood that the students thought that the educational games is effective in the Turkish course; in the formation of this idea, it was understood that educational games were influential in the features such as fun learning, collaborative work and cooperation, active participation, easy and permanent learning. Results: According to the results of the study, it is determined that word teaching activities through educational games are effective in developing the understanding skills of fifth grade students.
