Özet
Bu çalışmanın temel amacı Martin Luther'in Türklerle ve Müslümanlarla ilgili düşüncelerini, bunların arka planını ve etkilerini incelemektir. Böyle bir araştırma aynı zamanda Avrupa'daki İslamofobinin oluşmasının ve yayılmasının tarihsel altyapısında Martin Luther'in Türkler ve Müslümanlar hakkında söylemiş ve yazmış olduğu sözlerin etkilerini de bir ölçüde ortaya koyacaktır. Bizi bu konuda çalışmaya iten en önemli sebeplerden biri Martin Luther'in Türkler ve Müslümanlar hakkındaki görüşlerinin konu edildiği araştırmaların ülkemizde yeterli sayıda olmayışıdır. Çalışmada Martin Luther'in düşüncelerinin oluştuğu dönemler değerlendirilmiş ve onun düşüncelerinin oluşmasında etkili olan kişiler ve eserler tartışmaya dâhil edilmiştir. Çalışmanın birinci bölümünde“Martin Luther kimdir”sorusu cevaplandırılmaya çalışılmıştır. Luther'in yetiştiği ortam, okuduğu okullar, aldığı eğitimler ve ailesi hakkında bilgiler verilmiştir. Bununla onun yetiştiği ortamın düşünce yapısına etkilerinin ortaya konulması hedeflenmiştir. Ayrıca Protestan reformunun başlamasındaki etkenler, Reform hareketinin ortaya çıkması, yayılması ve Reformun Osmanlı Devletine etkileri ile Osmanlı Devletinin Reformasyonun yayılmasındaki etkisi ele alınmıştır. İkinci bölümde ise, önemli ölçüde Luther'in söz konusu fikirlerine de kaynaklık eden, Avrupa'daki Türk algısı incelenmiştir. Bölümün sonunda ise özel olarak Luther'in yetiştiği yer olan Almanya'daki Türk imgesi üzerinde durulmuştur. Üçüncü bölüm ise tezin ana konusu olması hasebiyle en geniş tutulan kısımdır. Bu bölüm temel olarak Luther'in Türkler hakkındaki düşünceleri ve Luther'in İslam hakkındaki söylemleri şeklinde iki ana kısımdan müteşekkildir.

The main purpose of this study is to examine Martin Luther's thoughts about Turks and Muslims, their background and effects. Such a study will also reveal to some extent the effects of Martin Luther's words about Turks and Muslims in the historical background of the formation and spread of Islamophobia in Europe. One of the most important reasons that led us to work on this issue is the lack of sufficient number of researches on Martin Luther's views on Turks and Muslims. In this study, the periods in which Martin Luther's thoughts were formed were evaluated and the people and works that contributed to the formation of his thoughts were included in the discussion. In the first part of the study, the question Who is Martin Luther was tried to be answered. Information was given about the environment Luther grew up in, the schools he attended, the education he received and his family. It is aimed to reveal the effects of the environment in which it grows on the structure of thought. In addition, the factors in the beginning of the Protestant reform, the emergence and spread of the Reform movement, the effects of the Reform on the Ottoman Empire and the effect of the Ottoman Empire on the spread of Reformation were discussed. In the second part, the perception of Turkish in Europe is examined, which is the source of Luther's ideas. At the end of the chapter, the Turkish image in Germany, where Luther grew up, was emphasized. The third section is the main subject of the thesis. This section mainly consists of two main sections: Luther's thoughts on The Turks and Luther's discourses on Islam.
