SUMMARY The effects and safety of using oral nifedipine 10 mgr as acute antihypertensive treatment were studied in placebo-controlled study of total 100 patients with very high blood pressure requiring emergency reduction. Where as placebo did not alter the blood pressure,, oral nife dipine significantly reduced. The sistolic and diastolic blood pressures in all 60 patients (after 60 minutes q <, 0,001) Nifedipine is a simple effective and safe alternative drug for ma naging hypertensive emergencies. Medication given orally works better in hypertantlon than the paretheral may. Nifedipine in cupsul or tablet from can be useal safely for this purpose.
