Belge, Abidin (1997 ).“Effects of the Lesson Passing and Credit System, applied in the general lycees, on the General Music Education according to the opinions of administrators, teachers and students”. Post graduate thesis, (Thesis consultant, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sedat Seven), Ankara University, Institute of Social Sciences, Ankara - Turkey: Vll + 93 p. The subject of the study is the effects of the Lesson Passing and Credit System, which is being applied in general lycees since the educational year of 1991-1992, on music education according to the opinions of related administrators, music teachers and students. The objective of the study is to determine the positive and negative effects of the Lesson Passing and Credit System which has been applied in lycees, which are the second stage cf the highschcol education, since the educational year of 1990-1991, on music lesson, which is one of the optional lessons. Descriptive method has been utilized as the basis in this study, in order to obtain the findings. The data analysis 92has been realized by means of the SPSS computer package program. From the results obtained from the data, it has been determined; that students taking optional music lessons are not well informed about the Lesson Passing and Credit system; that these students are not directed in an efficient manner by the consultant teachers in accordance with their requests and abilities; that the music lesson is mainly taken in order to complete the necessary credits; that the environment in the schools is not efficient for music training; and that the music education program is not able to fulfill the interests and requirements of the students.
