Özet
ÖZET Bu tezde cevher kavramı vasıtasıyla Kant ve Schopenhauer' in ontolojilerini anlamaya çalıştık. Esas itibarıyla Schopenhauer' in felsefesi Kant'ın felsefesinin temel varsayımlarına dayanmaktadır.
ABSTRACT In the present thesis we carry out an investigation into the ontologies of Kant and Schopenhauer through the concept of substance. Schopenhauer's philosophy is essentially based on the fundamental assumptions of Kant's transcendental philosophy. The distinction between a representation and the thing-in-itself is the most important principle which is used by Kant to establish an ontology within the world as representation; Schopenhauer's philosophy, on the other hand, transcends these limits and suggests a twofold ontology. In accordance with this twofold ontology, we find that in Schopenhauer's thought there is a dualism as regards the concept of substance. In Kant's philosophy, being substance is dependent upon the conditions of the world as representation and since the thing-in-itself lies absolutely outside these conditions, it cannot possibly be regarded as substance. However, we conclude that the Kantian thing-in-itself is determined as 'will' and considered as substance by Schopenhauer. This dualism in Schopenhauer's ontology is one that suggests the primacy and priority of the one (will) over the other (matter). IV
