The aim of the study is to examine the confronted challenges, obstacles and the available opportunities for female professionals in Turkish construction industry. This study focuses on female professionals who are engaged in the managerial areas, construction projects and companies in order to investigate the negatively and positively influencing factors of females regarding their career development. The paper contains a comprehensive review of relevant published literature which generates the basis for secondary data of the research. A qualitative research approach is employed, conducting seven semi-structured interviews with male and female professionals which is used as primary data for the research. Snowball sampling technique is used to achieve a sample of seven professionals who are more than five years experienced and actively working in the sector. Semi-structured interviews used to achieve the aim of the research. An interpretative philosophical approach was adopted to analyse the collected data. The male dominated image of the construction industry was the strongest barrier for females. Recommendations for the industry and government are in various ways related to findings and conclusion of the research. Overall this research provides comprehension and recommendations for female involvement in Turkish construction industry.
