This paper covers the Southeast Asia, which is illustrated to form 'Regional Security Complex'. The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in the Southeast Asian region is the focal point of this dissertation. This dissertation is initiated within the structure of the RSCT, which is put forward by Buzan and Waever in the book of Regions and Power. The purpose of this dissertation is to critically examine Regional Security Complex – to evaluate the evolving dynamics and characteristic of security interdependence between ASEAN and Myanmar after the end of the Cold War. Therefore, this dissertation is the examination of strengths and shortcomings of ASEAN`s constructive engagement towards Myanmar through Barry Buzan`s Regional Security Complex Theory. Regional security complex framework, as an analytical instruments, is designed to emphasize the systemic dynamics and ASEAN distinctiveness from other region due to its economic engagement. RSCT provide descriptive explanation of behaviour of regional states by defining regional dynamics and characteristic interdependence through amity and enmity. Furthermore, with the use of constructivism, these interdependent regional countries address challenges through quality of amity and enmity patterns. In addition to this, the patterns of amity and enmity between ASEAN and Myanmar intertwined with regional growing power China and Western penetrations. This dissertation come to the conclusion that security relations between ASEAN and Myanmar and their relations with axis powers since the end of the Cold War are examined deploying the regional security complex framework. In doing so, amity and enmity patterns is believed to have an significant influence on ASEAN`s constructive engagement with Myanmar.
