Attachment theory is a social and psychologic model dealing with secure and insecure connections based on the relationship between parents and the baby from infancy to childhood. Reflection of past experiences onto today has effects on numerous emotions of adulthood. Modes of attachment formed in infancy reflect, like a mirror, individual relations and connections in adulthood. During the last few years, the connection between attachment theory and suicidal ideas has been studied, based on different perspectives. It has been demonstrated that secure children establish stronger relations based on mutual trust when compared to insecure children. Contrary to this, insecure children build insecure and emotionally weak relations and connections. The method of this study has been to encode feelings with qualitative methods by using thematic analysis. Information was collected from seven participants (5 males, 2 females) between the ages of 23 and 61. Interviews were conducted by specialist psychiatrist nurses at the North Wales hospital for the duration of one hour. These have been encoded through the thematic analysis method by the researchers and divided into themes, before being included into the research. The aim of this study has been to identify the feelings which would lead to suicide and for revealing the relationship through insecure attachment. According to the results, the effects of traumatic events experienced by individuals with their family in their past, confidence problems, excessive attachment problems in interpersonal relations, and selfcriticism, leading to suicidal ideas, were revealed. Based on the results obtained, it has been observed that insecure attachments during infancy make an effect on the moods of individuals in their adulthood. Moreover, in this study, as an extra advantage, the effect of lack of trust in individuals and their relationship with suicide was also examined.
